What's Hot

Hi Steppers, i'm deep in music selection mode for the next BODYSTEP release (#63). What I want to know is what songs are hot on the charts in you country at the moment, and whether you think they would be great for BODYSTEP.  Also, if you have an old favorite tune, let me know, as we can re-make a blast from the past into a modern winner.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark

Have a listen to "1, 2 Step (Eazy Remix)" by Ciara and Missy Elliott. It has a good beat and quite a funky vibe goin on. Check it out. There could be some good choreography for bodystep behind this track!

Hey Mark,

I put a couple things in the music suggestions, but what would make an amazing cooldown is Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 or You And Me, by Lifehouse . You should check out their album Songs About Jane, pretty much anything on there is amazing! The new Missy Elliot song Lose Control always makes me want to move too. A great song that's new and really popular in the US is Pon de Replay, by Rihanna. Rob Thomas has some great stuff out too. Hope this message wasn't too long for you!

Hi Mark, these are not all Europena hits, but these musics can rock in a bodystep.
Try this :

- Mysterio - Everlasting love
Good for warmup and very motivating sound

- Mysterio - I Was Made For Lovin You
good for a warmup too

- Laura Branigan - Self Control 2005 (Royal Gigolos Remix)
I use this song too in my bodysculpting classe to move with the step, I know recently we have another version in step 57, but listen to it, you will like.

- Global Deejays - What A Feeling - Global Deejays (Radio Mix)
Good remix of the original song, it rocks in europe now

- Global Deejays - The sound of San Francisco
Good remix too of the original song, it exist 2 version, one in english, and another one in french ( maybe a bonus track hehehe)

- Party Pimpz - Give It Up (Club Mix)
- Party Pimpz - Holiday

- The House Keepers - Go Down

- Prezioso feat. Marvin - Rocking Deejays (Extended Mix)

- The Lovefreekz - Shine

- Denise Lopez - Tarzan Boy (Dancco Summer Edit)
Good as track 2 (reducing the speed)

- Kasino - Get Over

- Potatoheadz - Narcotic

- Scarf - Hithouse
Good as track 5

- Active8 - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
- Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For (Armand Van Helden Remix)
The best remix to use with a step

- Audio Bullys feat. Nancy Sinatra - shot you down (radio edit)
Hit of the moment in the clubs, but I dont know how to use this song in bodystep, just listen to it

- katrina & the waves - Walking On Sunshine (Super Summer Mix)
Good as track 9, and allready used in body combat

- Disco Babes - Hot Stuff
Good song if you reduce the speed

- Hi Skool - Summer night
Remix of a song from Grease

If you want more ask me
Good luck creating BodyStep 63 !!!

How about some Gwen Stefani? "Hollaback girl" has an awesome beat.
"Get it Poppin'" by Fat Joe featuring Nelly is a good one, too. Jessica Simpson remade "These Boots" for Dukes of Hazzard. That could be a funny one to use.
You do an awesome job Mark! Keep it up!

Hey steppers! Thanks for the suggestions. You'll be pleased to know that some of your suggested songs are already in release #62 (filmed last month, and soon to be released). Some of the other songs are on my list for #63. It really helps me with the music selection process knowing what music gets you going. Some of the songs, I haven't heard yet, so i'll get our music sources to track them down.
Thanks again, and keep 'em coming. You guys rock!

Hey Mark,

I have always liked "Canned Heat" by Jamiroquai. You know it is from the Center Stage Soundtrack. Its got a great beat to it and sort of sound like a disco type song. It may have already been used in a release. If not it should be used in a program if not BODYSTEP. Thanks for all the awesome releases!

Hi Mark,

I've got a few songs for you, but first I have to say, please do NOT use *** cat dolls-don't ya. Nasty, dirty and yuck! Just my opinion. Even if it is high on the charts.
How about something different, but still high on the charts. Here are some: Green Day- Holiday. Every time it comes on the radio and cannot change the channel! And: George Michael- Faith (oldie), Bon Jovi- Living on a prayer (oldie), Killers- Mr. Brightside or Somebody Told Me, Shakira- La Tortura, Gorillza- Feel Good Inc, and Coldplay - Clocks or Speed of Sound for abs or cooldown. Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter would be great for a cooldown too. Good luck and hope you find some great tunes!

Heya,

Great Job with 61!

Regarding tunes: (for any release!)
Global Deejays - Sound of San Francisco - I can back Pedro up, its really good
But for a really good remix for "Flashdance what a feeling", try DJ Rankin's. :)
Milk - I dont care
Special D - Come With Me (might be the groove coverage remix?)
Gigi D'Agostino - Summer Jam (would have to be warmdown as quite slow & chilled)
Colours ft Domino - Hold Me & Kiss Me
ATC - Around The World
BodyRockers - I like the way You Move

Love your work :)

A great song for cooldown and stretch would be "Open Door" with Bodies Without Organs. BWO has swept across Europe (especially eastern Europe) and the song is great. The whole album is.

A song that would make a good party step would be "Bachi bachi" with Luca.

As far as older stuff goes, what about that old group called Snap! They have some great songs that I'm surprised I haven't seen.. Cult of Snap, and Rhythym is a Dancer are both good. Or Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam or The Real Mcoy - Another Night or Runaway. All older songs that whenever I hear them I remember how much I used to love them.

Dear Mark,

Sourcing music must be one of the most difficult AND entertaining parts of your job.

I often hear music at dance clubs that I think would be excellent in BODYSTEP. Shortly after it shows up on the next release.

Do you ever go clubbing to search for music?

Do you ever go out on the dance floor and have a hard time just dancing without throwing in some squat taps, turn steps or propulsive knees?

I must admit I have to hold back the urges, especially when I hear BODYCOMBAT tracks. The last thing I need is to get bounced or arrested for a cool roundhouse backfist knee combo.

Anyway, can't wait to see you here in the US. Maybe in November?

I think that the J Beck Club Mix of 'Cater 2 U' by Destiny's Child would be awesome - FreshFM in Adelaide have been playing this remix which gives such a bright and uptempo feel to the track.

woot from Adelaide, Oz Land, BS 61 rocks and from what I'm reading, 62 promises to be bigger and better! *g*

A lot of the songs already mentioned are also big down here *g*

Anything by the Black Eyed Peas is rocking down here too, like the new song Don't Lie, smooth and cool, perhaps a neat cooldown track?

also, LOSE CONTROL (Stonebridge / Original mix) Missy Elliott rocking the clubs
DON'T CHA (Ralphi's Hot Freak 12'' Vox mix) The Pussycat Dolls (both of which are already mentioned *g*)
GET IT POPPIN' (Radio mix) Fat Joe feat. Nelly
4EVER The Veronicas

I'm sure I can come up with plenty more! Keep up the fabulous work!

Hey! Thanks for all you suggestions. Keep your ears open in the clubs Ben, those remixes are the ones i'm after. It's been a long time since i've been clubbing (do they still call it clubbing?), but I hear that some of our members bust out in to some of the BODYJAM routines when thry're out ;-)
Sophie, I've been looking for a remix of Lose Control, i'll check out the stonebridge version.
Marty, loving the J Beck remix.
Phoebe, I'm a bit undecided on the ab track, i'll take a listen to Gold digger.
Danielle, some goodies there, real blasts from the past.
Angie, looks like there's too many requests to not use PCD Don't Cha, I personally love the remix, but I guess I'll refrain from using it... ;-/
Amanda, Trialling Voodoo child at the mo.
And everyone else, huge thanx, i'm off to search for those songs!!!

the Jacques Lu Cont mix of Lose Control by Missy Elliot is also awesome, I listened to it on the net tonight and it had track 5 written all over it! (perhaps it needs to be a little sped up though). A tad more funkier than the Stonebridge version to me!

A good, funky track 7 is Dare (Soulwax remix) by the Gorillaz, worth a look. Or even the original version is a good, funky tempo for a track 11, I can feel the push ups and abdominals working !
