It’s been a crazy couple of weeks in the LMI office just now, with visits from Finland and the Netherlands – and I reckon we showed them just how we do things on the other side of the world! Probably summed up by their Maori welcome from yours truly – even if I am an honorary kiwi. It’s always great meeting a whole bunch of people who speak a different language but feel exactly the same enthusiasm as we do, which we got a look at when we went and showed them around Auckland. Our Dutch visitors went to the rugby and over to Piha beach, while the plan for the Finnish was a trip over to Waiheke Island – though when the rain started they went shopping instead! Of course there was a bit of business going on too, with personal, club and marketing seminars, and a visit to the Les Mills clubs in Auckland. Hope we see you guys again soon!

Check this out! It’s the brand new RPM studio at the new Les Mills gym that just opened in Wellington. It’s the tenth in the Les Mills chain and looks like a fantastic new facility. Can’t wait to get down there and see it close up –especially this amazing RPM studio. The entrance looks like stepping onto the bridge of the Starship Enterprise but inside it’s geared up to replicate a great outdoor cycling experience, complete with road markings down the centre of the floor and road signs on the side. All the bikes are pointing in the same direction – like a peleton – and the front wall is a real scene from the city outside. Truly awesome! Euro Highlights

Attending the global convention of all the Les Mills agents in Valencia, Spain was an awesome experience for us. Among the many highlights were celebrating reaching our target of 10,000 clubs running Les Mills classes around the world and, for me (Jackie), meeting the new distributors for Les Mills in the USA.

Spending some downtime in Europe since the convention has also had its definite high points. Last night we 'lucked in' in our attempt to have some good exercise got to attend the quarterly launch classes at Planete Forme in Aix-en-Provence. We were expertly led through by Karin, Denise, Laurence and Maxime in their beautiful group fitness room that is air conditioned - a real luxury in the current heat wave here in the south of France! Thanks so much guys for the great experience, inspiration and passion, we feel a whole let better.

Last week we were in Lausanne, Switzerland where Phillip gave a lecture to a group of club managers – that’s him in the middle with the yellow shirt on. He’s standing next to our great friend Christophe Andanson who’s the Les Mills agent for France and French-speaking Switzerland. The picture was taken outside the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

Japanese Visit Konnichiwa!!!

Mr. Shirato Takuya is in town with instructors and club owners from all over Japan and it’s fab – I have had a natural facelift take place from smiling for all the photos we have had taken!!

After a BODYCOMBAT class on Monday afternoon, we all jumped up on stage and had 15+ cameras thrown at one poor guy to take 15 photos of us all on the Studio One Stage.

I persuaded them all to come back for the BODYJAM class that Chris Richardson and I team teach on a
Monday night – they loved it and had
a howl!!

I look forward to seeing them again next week when I travel to Japan to launch BODYJAM over there…BODYJAM is so hot right now!!!!

Studio One, Les Mills World Of Fitness, Auckland

Well, after many years a few of us in this day and age resort to a little “nip ‘n’ tuck” - so Studio One has had his/hers? Studio One has undergone many upgrades over these years, but NONE come close to the one just completed.

All the Les Mills “big guns” have had a huge input into the making of this amazing Group Fitness Room, and need a big thank you. We now have one of the biggest and most technologically advanced Group Fitness Room in the world.

Group Fitness Manager Chris Richardson has had a major renovation project on his hands and has handled it with great decorum. With 10 days on the cards, 10,000 members and tons of new materials and workmanship to do, we are now in the final stages of preparation, and all ran smoothly ( they say!!) .

Instructors are all getting a lesson in how to control the new 'systems'…oooooh, I'm so excited!!!

YOU guys will have an opportunity to experience this new facility on May 6th in the GFX Convention run in conjunction with LMI & LMNZ.

This is going to be the BIGGEST Fitness Party we have seen here in NZ. 80 gyms from all over the country will be sending their instuctors up to Auckland to experience the new quarterly releases, AND to experience the FILMING of the NEXT QW releases…all in the same day!!!

I have already heard from many international instructors, making the trip down to NZ to be apart of this!! And its easy!! All you have to do is contact carla.fitzsimons@lesmills.co.nz to book your place!! DON’T WAIT - you can only start to imagine how busy it is going to get down here…..phew!!

Did I mention the garage party we are having apres classes/filmings? (Hmm…note to self, must get heaps of sleep before this party hits town)

Record Breaking IHRSA

The IHRSA25 convention in Las Vegas was the usual sensory implosion of business shifting from stocks to frocks and back again in the flick of a neon sign for four days solid. In its 25th year IHRSA broke every record: more people, more countries, more sessions and a combined attendance at the Las Vegas Convention Center in excess of 14000 people!

Without a doubt this was also the greatest IHRSA yet for Les Mills.

Over 300 people rocked to the rhythm of our morning classes with a record breaking 140 enthusiasts hitting a high with BODYATTACK™ – nothing, but nothing could contain the energy in the room. BODYCOMBAT™ and BODYFLOW™ also had knockout turnouts.

The booth team of Brent and Michelle, Josef, Lee and me was strongly supported by Joella (Mid-West), Kim (South East), Erin, Victor and Lynn (Mid Atlantic) and regularly frequented by the big guns of the industry. Never a dull moment and the undisputed place to hang out!

Non-stop program demos defined the 16 booth hours and saw a constant flow of admirers through. All in all a darned good show or to put it in business-speak: “the resource was operating at full capacity”

Convention highlights: hearing Deepak Chopra, Bill Clinton and Lance Armstrong speak AND watching Joella fall off the stage.

Les Mills Licensed Club in Springfield, Missouri

Les Mills IMTs probably get to see more clubs in more countries than anyone else and I’ve seen some amazing facilities in my travels. But check this one from Springfield, Missouri – it’s the Ozark Fitness Center and it just may have the grooviest group fitness studio anywhere! (Helps that they’re running Les Mills programs of course). Love to see any pictures of other top clubs. Send them in and I’ll make sure they’re on my list to visit.
