    Music

Why must LM use the same song in different programs that are released at the same time?  There are millions of songs.

    Re: Music

Because they sounds good!!! I really like to use Pink songs "So what???" in different releases. Members in my club enjoy it every time...

    Re: Music

Because it's cheaper to license one song than two? And if it works well then what does it matter. I like having the same songs in different classes it's kind of fun.

    Re: Music

Yes, I understand that they buy the music.  I really don't mind that they reuse the songs.  I just don't like the same song released on two different programs at the same time.  Our members don't like it either.  Everyone's different....I was just wondering how everyone else felt about it.

I don't mind it at all, and I'm surprised that your members would bother to complain. I've never heard ours complain - in fact- they sometimes seem pleasantly surprised!

It becomes more obvious during a launch, when the same song appears on multiple programs; however once the launch period is over no-one really says anything. What's weird is when you take a different program and you hear a paticular track. I know that I took a Step class once that used a BC track and I was really confused

Not sure that is true. I think that they licence the song based on the number of copies they are going to produce (hence why you can't get back releases going back too far because once they have run out they are not licenced to produce more.

Hence if the same song appears in three different releases then that's three times as many copies - though perhaps they get a discount.

As an instructor I get annoyed with this practice because I have to buy a very expensive CD with the music on it - I have no choice - and it is most annoying having to pay twice (or more) for the same track.

    Re: Music

Note, in case of Dragostea we're talking just about one original mix in BC. BA and BS samples are 'LesMills Music'-owned covers. Not sure, if there are some license fees for covers... Otherwise, many artists wouldn't produce so many covers nowadays (Thriller, Smooth criminal, etc., just to mention a few).

    Re: Music

I was once in a BodyBalance class, and all of a sudden felt like breaking into a jinga ... Indifferent... then realized it was because it was the same song that was being used in Combat for the jinga/capoeira track... didn't bother me, just made me smile. Big Smile

    HOLD THE PHONE.

You mean to tell me that people get annoyed when the same song is used in multiple disciplines? Really? This is the first I've ever heard of this...

Honestly - we need an area for "threads that appear constantly"....

Besides the re-use of music there could be:

SmileHeading for "fill in program" training, what to expect?

SmileWhat's the best fat-burner/does "fill in program" burn fat?

You have a point. The problem is, the people using these forums are constantly changing. Then some of us are senile... I have been on these forums for almost two years and don't remember seeing a topic like this one. On the other hand, I've never trained as a Combat instructor, but I sure as hell can tell you what to expect already Big Smile

It would be great if there was a decent 'search' feature for seeing if a particular topic has been discussed (before posting). At the moment, it doesn't seem to exist... at least not in any kind of user-intuitive way... So, in the meantime we just have to be a bit patient...

Oh I agree wholeheartedly! That response was very tongue-in-cheek.

You haven't seen the multiple threads about re-use of music? I must spend WAY too much time here... Big Smile

    Re: Music

People did notice it during the launch, but nobody seemed to really mind.

A fun idea could be if they would use the -exact- same version of the song in let's say 3 different programs in a release, so it would be cool for a demo in which multiple programs are on stage at the same time, each one showing what they do with the music.. I'd like that (just once of course)

     .. any thoughts?
