    The half Burpee

Ok practicing BodyStep 77 and I have to tell you I do not like the half burpee.  I actually got a headache dong this move.  For those that have launched already what is your take on this questionable move and how are you instructing it?  They tell you it's a half burpee but if you look at the viedo they are doing it full out as I'm sure members will too.  And I'm sure no matter how many times you que there heads will be below the heart.  Love to hear your feedback

I don't like it either, Brenda.  Infact when it's time to do it I say, "If you have blood pressure problems please stay with this option and do not proceed to the half burpee."  And it doesn't matter how often you cue, butts high, don't jump back long, keep it small, etc people do the full burpee and arch their back.  I sound like a broken record in this track, guys watch your butts, half burpee only not full, watch your backs, don't arch your back, tuck in your chins.  Most people are now doing the tap backs instead.  Infact don't cue the half burpee when new people are in the class at all now, I believe it to be a potentially dangerous move never have liked the burpee, even in circuits as people just don't execute it properly.

    Happy Stepping!

Really glad to hear that other's don't like it.  I'm going to talk to my coordinator to take the burpee option completely out.  And I thought the same thing would happen and with people missing the bench when they come back up.  What were they thinking?????

Am I the only one who likes the half burpee?

You are not the only one, I like them too! Party time, excellent Party!!!

I just taught this track once, so maybe my opinion will change, but since there is a perfect option I don't think it will give any problems.

Burpees are amazing! Bootcamp style work outs are my favorite and I've done these (usually with some pushups and plyos inbetween) for a long time. These are a great and more challenging option for those who are more advanced.  A full burpee would also be hands to the floor and back to a full push-up position (They don't look that far back in the video....)

What's not to like?  It is a new move to Bodystep, it is well set-up within the track, the chorey book gives lots of good cues for the execution, and most importantly, there's a great option if it is not the right move for you!  I personally like the move - I used to use it frequently when I taught freestyle step and coreboard.  Thanks Mark!

    Re: The half Burpee

We've set it up very specifically before class - some members love it and choose to do it (safely), while others choose the option.

We're making sure no one does it on fewer than 2 risers/side (much like track 11 for safety) - and to protect their backs; set it up as per the video/tips, continually repeating the most important cues and that it's a 1/2 - not full - burpee..., and have sold the benefits.

It's had huge success, again, w/ members completely comfy w/ taking their preferred option - which is what we're all about anyways.

Good to have options and challenges - and innovations to the program :)

Two thumbs down on the half burpee!   Always try to hydrate well before class but if I do, almost throw up when I bend over for the half burpee!   Maybe I am prone to reflux issues or something.

The first time I did it, it was hard of the fingers but today it wasn't so bad.

I haven't done 77 yet, so I can't say whether I like or not, only that I'm excited to try it out.

I think it's always fun with a new move. Will take a while to get used to it, though. Got somewhat dizzy doing it the first time.

    Re: The half Burpee

We had to pull it Sad. It's a decent move, but I think leadership's reasoning was that some people who shouldn't do it (i.e. those with blood-pressure issues) would attempt it anyway. So now it's just the two tap-backs the whole way through. I just encourage them to step back further and deeper to make the move more challenging...

    MoB- when's the launch?
