I have been instructing Combat for about a year, and finally got my hands on some of the older mp3s and choreography notes from another instructor. However, SOME of the tracks have ridiculous, unnecessary bell sounds to remind us when the choreography changes (actually quite distracting). Why do some releases (like ALL of my copy of Combat 26) have the bell sounds, while others don't (my copy of 25, for example)? I also just had an instructor send me track 8 from 34 and it has the stupid bell sounds. I'm looking for a clean (no bells!) version of Believe in Me and Save Your Life, but haven't had any luck. Do they exist? What's up with bells in Combat?
That's how it was ... youngster ... back in the day.
Also easy for participants to know when changes occurred - without having to watch / listen to instructor.
I think it's a Gaby / Nathan thing - BTS Kick has all the bells and whistles, I think they maybe chorey for BTS now.

Hi guys,
Those effects were included in worldwide releases till BC #15 or 16 (I think). After that, such effects have been prohibited due to changed copyright rules. However, in Latin America, the sound effects still seem to appear. This would explain why you may have both versions.
The sound effects appeared up to and including release 15 - the bells were to remind you of a change of corry and the sound effects were added to make you feel the kick or punch.
Early releases kept the sound effects to the odd kick - whereas by release 15 they were on almost every strike and were becoming quite intrusive. As has already been said the copyright rules changed and stopped this from release 16 onwards.
In South America they take the sound effect free songs and edit some of their own back in - these are very intrusive IMHO and don't really work.
If you have copies of the South American versions then presumeably you got these from dubious sources and you could equally dubiously find the versions without effects - but I wouldn't be posting how you managed to find such things on a Les Mills forum!!

I trully miss those releases I loved the bell sounds. Loved Nat and Gabby's Bodycombat love Bodycombat 10 :)
jdownesbaird: I certainly won't be using the music with bells in it (because they are apparently not legit and they are also annoying). Any input would be appreciated.
Why would you say releases 1-15 are not legit - the only reason you might not want to use them is that they are very slow compared to the more recent stuff? The bells and sound effects were part of Body Combat up to release 15 - and that is a fact.
I have all the releases from 6 through to the present day and they are official versions not copies. I recently taught 15 in it's entirety and it went down a storm.

No, I have BodyCombat 26 WITH bell sounds, which someone earlier in this thread said were added without Les Mills' permission in some South American countries. They were given to me by another instructor, and apparently are not legit. I also had an instructor give me Believe In Me from 34, which also had bell sounds (which I know had long been abandoned), I won't teach these tracks because they were apparently aquired from "dubious" sources. I am just frustrated that there isn't a way to legitimately get/pay for some of these tracks, and am unsure of the legality of sharing amongst instructors.

When you pass a module you sign an agreement with LM not to copy materials and give them to other instuctors. So whilst there are different rules about whether it is legal to copy music in different countries - if you copy music or corry for another instructor you are breaking your agreement with LM.
jdownesbaird:So an instructor would have to physically give/sell me the notes and original CD? Is that allowed?
Give not sell.
