Re: Guys I need Help with BJ 44

I am so thrilled to read all of this feedback about the current release.  We started with BJ 39 at my gym.  They LOVED it!  AND BJ 40.  Wow.    When BJ 41 came......numbers dropped instantly!  Tat James Brown move was simply not fun......and too bad they couldn't use the Fergalicious song to better use cause we were all excited when we saw it was on that release.  BIG disappoitnment.

     MOVING ON....

So the numbers dropped.  We worked our asses off to get the numbers back up.  Trying to create excitement in our gym and our community. We also have a WAY small gym with LOTS of classes to offer.  Our participants were pretty thrilled about BJ 42.  It was a challenging cardio workout, the music was fun, and the moves were less "girly".  43 has been the greatest response since BJ 40, at our club.  "Finally," thought my JAM team and I.  "Numbers are back.  The program is saved!"

And then came BJ 44.......LET DOWN!

Here's what sucks to high heaven:

    1.  As part of the JAM Team at my gym, love, ADORE rather, the music.  I am a hip-hop girl and that first bit is right up my alley!!!  But most of the participants find it so monotonous...And the gents that were taking class, won't right now, because the Beyonce #4 track is all about "the ladies on the floor" and even in the dvd, G and the other dude back it up and let Rachael have the lime-light.  HELLO!  It's hard enough to get Southern good-ole boys in NC to take this damn class in the FIRST place, but THAT part....hell they walk out in the middle of class.  Eeeek!

    2.  That recovery?  What IS that?!  Honestly.  Song?....yawn.....Moves?......yawn......again, there's Southern boys having to stick their ass out.  I mean....I try to make the moves more masculin for the guys as best as I possibly can, but I AM still a girl.  there's only so much I can do.

    3.  Cardio Block.....thank GOODNESS for that music.  Itis very intoxicating and I ADORE the Everybody Re-mix!  It gives me goosebumps everytime I teach it.

Now please, I will say that it is very sad that some of the participants chose to sit this release out.  the ones that stuck with it are having a wonderful time, just as I am teaching it.  I ALWAYS love the releases!  We are taught to LOVE our chorey and our music.  But I have to say that I agree with the thought that every once in a while, G gives us an AMAZING release.  Because of that we have HIGH expectations.  As well we should.  We, as instructors and gym owners, pay A LOOOOT of money to host and teach these classes.  We are world class instructors and always expect the BEST!  Sooooo....44 fell WAAAAY short of those expectations.  Time to move on.

Our team is putting out a suggestion box for what the participants want to experience in JAM.  We want to give them the best "Best of JAM" class possible.  Plus it will, HOPEFULLY, cause an excitement about JAM again.

I teach FLOW, as well, and I have found JAM to be the hardest damn class to keep people interested in.  It starts to make me feel like I'm a sucky teacher.  But everytime I feel like that, the participants tell me that they love me.  It's not me, they just find the release boring.

You can please some of the people all the time, and all of the people some of the time.  But you can't please all the people all the time.  thanks for letting me share my thoughts here.  Please excuse me for it being so very long!!!

     CHEERS AND KEEP JAMMIN!

    Hi KellyRay-

I put together a "best of Jam" event this January for our YMCA's partner with youth campaign.  It was a three-hour event with 6 instructors teaching 30-minute blocks.

The event was fun, we raised more than $600, but the feedback was off from what I thought it might be.  Those who did suggest tracks/cardio blocks were very pleased and excited when "their" block came up.  Those, however, that showed up just because they love Jam and love to dance kept saying "Can't you do something we KNOW?"

Anyway, if you want more information about the event just let me know.  You can PM me and I'll send you my email.

Good thoughts about 44.  I hear 45 is amazing, so we have that to look forward to!
