Re: WHAT'S the most difficult move in BODY BALANCE?

Still: I have been doing bodybalance for about a year now, and now I can bend and stretch my body to the limit now, but this exact pose has me to my knees - litteraly and figurativly, hehe. It's not that it is difficult to do with your body, it's mostly the fact that the frog pose last for about a minute and a half, and the last minute it really has everything to do with self disipline to keep it. And it's SOOOO hard to get up afterwards :P

There are a lot of "mature" woman taking the same class as me (I'm 24), and they have been doing bodybalance for years. I see some of them having real problems with the frog pose, especially getting up when it's done. They have to sort of crawl forwards a bit, then lay down on the floor and gather their feet before getting up. Otherwise they can't get up.

The toes pointing out cannot be good for my several times sprained ankels though...?

Insect Pose and Firefly's from the deep dark history of Bodybalance, the most difficult track would be Rent very difficult indeed.

Cow face is deffo one of the hard ones...  I also have trouble with some of the overhead arms movements while twisting.  My arm just doesn't want to go there.

I find cow face pose one of the easiest poses in Bodybalance strange?

Re: WHAT'S the most difficult move in BODY BALANCE?

I would think that some of the difficult stretching poses such as cow faced pose and frog pose are kinda down to personal limitations. Every person is different, however some semblance of the pose can usually be achieved.

To ask what is the most difficult move I think points more towards poses that only limited members can do due to their complexity, such as bird pose and the backbend. Firefly is indeed a difficult pose, but it was so long ago that it was last in balance that I don't think it really counts anymore. I don't think it's a pose they would any longer put in modern balance.

Another difficult pose is in the ab track of BB33, where you sit cross legged and have to lift yourself up with your hands. This requires a lot of physically strength, core strength and arm strength. Having the ability to do this pose is also proportionate to body weight.

The ankle cross lift - remember it well - did my video on 33.

We also haven't had Boat Pose since BB33 - I like Boat Pose!

Plus, if you happen to have a long torso or short arms, forget about it. I can barely get my palms to touch the floor when I'm seated, never mind actually getting my butt up off the floor. Differing body ratios is one thing that I find makes poses doable/not doable for different people in yoga.

Re: WHAT'S the most difficult move in BODY BALANCE?

it's not difficult... if you think you are missing something because it's difficult you're missing the point. You make it a challenge by going a little further in the poses than you did last time. It's like RPM... you decide how much resistance to add and how fast to pedal... it's like BodyPump... you have to decide how much weight to put on the bar. Do what you can do... every pose has options... take the options... you decide how much farther you go in the pose this time.

It's not about the final expression of the pose... it's about the journey from where you are right now to the pose. Do you remember the feeling you had the first time you took a BodyBalance class? That feeling isn't any better if you get all the way flat in cowface...

As far as learning the choreography goes... all i can say is... I'm a 50 year-old male from the midwest... if I can learn the choreography in the 30 days between when I get the DVD and when launch happens... you can too. 45 was way harder to learn than 46...

     Best of Luck!

Re: WHAT'S the most difficult move in BODY BALANCE?

I would have to choose cross legged lift, some times I can but most times I can't do it.  Weird I know but that's just how it is.  Love bird pose and cow face pose, guess I am lucky that I was double jointed as a kid, must be an advantage, lol.

Re: WHAT'S the most difficult move in BODY BALANCE?

Bird pose is probably the most difficult posture in Flow.   I don't do it as I have a wrist issue so, Bird is totally off my yoga pose list.  I'm glad its not used that much as its really not that necessary to do with the general population as the majority of people cannot achieve it.

My hips are flexible so, the hip opening poses I don't have much trouble with.   Cow Faced, Full Swan, Frog, Half Lotus...those feel wonderful to me.   I can handle Splits {on both sides} but, I wish I was a bit more flexible to get a better Standing Split.  I tend to do better with the floor split than standing.

The most difficult postures for me are the balance poses.  I have eye problems so, for me to set a steady eye focus is almost impossible.  I fight a lot with very simple balance poses.   In tracks where the balance poses keep floating from one to another such as the balance track in release 34 and 43, those are very very difficult for me.   I've gotten better over the years but, will not improve with balance poses like the average person would if they did Flow as much as I do.

Oh and there's nothing like Lunge pose to FRY the butt and legs.

Re: WHAT'S the most difficult move in BODY BALANCE?

I think that achieving bird  pose is a state of mind. You kinda have to believe you can do it, trust yourself and not fear. If you fear falling over, you probably won't achieve the pose.

One thing I notice many people try to do is pick their feet up. You cannot do it this way. It's about tipping forward until you are suspended in balance.......finding that point before you fall on your nose. Some people find they cannot stop themselves from falling over, that's where core abdominal strength comes in. But mostly it's trust and belief. It really is a state of mind.

Take it slowly, gradually tip your weight forward until you "fly". Try practising with a pillow if you really need to.
