Indeed. To paraphrase a common saying - "an expression says a thousand words".

For example, it's usually pretty obvious who's working hard in a class as towards the end of tracks the gurning starts.

    Question:

Do you sing along sometimes with the tracks?

No, not really... I couldn't sing to save my life! I like to pick up words or lines from songs to connect my class to their workout. I like it when my class gets into it though....

As for Bradley's suggestion...I am going to Toys R Us to find myself a Mr Potatohead to be my unofficial mascot in my Pump & RPM classes...I reckon that some inspiration could be found having him sit up on stage with me.

Definitely, but more so in RPM.  I think I'm more relaxed in RPM than Pump, where I'm still having to concentrate to get the moves together.  It's only been 8 weeks since the module Tongue Tied

Smileas for me, it depends on the songs. I also sing some words.

It sometimes gives me some kind of motivation.

But in our class, we have like a chorus in the front line

    They are funny to hear...

Come on - if you're singing you definitely have too little weight on - or you're cheating.

But perhaps your definition of singing isn't the same as mine... Wink

When I'm not teaching, YES. With a mic, I try not to. It's distracting to the participants. They think you're about to give some sort of cue and you're just busting out with "What, I've dooooooooooooooone".....

I think I sang thru the whole thing at the last Quarterly. Except for the shoulder track. By the end of that one, breathing was all I was thinking about....

Our instructors often sing some words to connect the class like sometimes to 'wake' the class up...

Singing. Gotta love it. Have the lyrics all memorized before release. Then usually ~50% comes out as grunting. Like, stuff you could relate to. "Straight down o-woah-ee-oh", or "When you go down, down". A lot of downs. Sometimes, when I'm in the front line, it has happened the instructor says just what I've been gruntsing (grunting-singing). But maybe that is something already having been planned. Hmm. c:

Thank you for saying this Melissa. Can I come to one of your classes?

No offence intended to the instructors who do, as I'm sure you either like singing and/or think you're good at it. Truth is that few are in my experience.

Also, most GEX mic/speaker systems don't reproduce singing very well and so it becomes more of a distraction than a plus.
