    Re: Intro

The best one that I've heard came from our instructor one morning when we had several newbies in the class...."This will be the hardest thing that you've ever done".  The message was clear and now we can work on his "delivery" !! LOL.  When I get a newbie next to me, I just tell them to relax......cause they're gonna' die in BP65 !! LOL  You just have to lighten things up a bit for a 5A class.

I suspect the OP was looking for suggestions for an Introduction to BodyPump class rather than words!Smile

Depends upon what your timeslot is really. If you're doing a technique intro for new people (which is the best thing) then I reckon a half hour class prior to the actual class is the way to go. Focus heavily on the Clean and Press/Deadrow combo as it contains most of the techniques which will be used in the class (deadlift/row/upright row/ squat etc) and is the trickiest technique for new people to master...

Probably spend about 15 mins on this technique and the remaining time 5 minutes to explain the workout/structure of the class and benefits and 10 minutes for bench work (chest and triceps) and lunges (although there's usually enough time to set up the lunge properly in the class).

    Re: Intro

And ALWAYS ALWAYS use the following statement or a modified version of it with the same message:

"If there is anyone here today with any kind of medical condition, for example but not limiting to, knee, ankle and lower back injuries, or if you are pregnant, you should have clearance from your doctor before you start the class today."

This will clear you for anyone accidentally injuring themselves and then trying to go for legal action against you.  It's also an OH & S policy at most clubs.  And if it isn't, it should be!!!

I do it before I start any class, not just pump.
