are you serious? thats like jail and doesn't sound good from a safety point of view. I don't think I'd be going to that gym tbh.
Whoops! I forgot I posted here. Yes, of course I'm kidding! To our participants who leave early (irregardless of reason), we always sign-off with a "Thank you for coming!"
phew, thats a relief lol. Yeah, I always take the loud and cheerful 'thanks for coming' approach, it's the only way
Not tired are you???

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
Twice... well hobbled once after rolling an ankle and another time I waited outside until the moving tracks were over because the room was so hot everyone was dripping sweat all over the floor and it was just too dangerous.

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
I've walked out of loads of classes as a participant - but only to get my breath back!!
The majority of the time it's only for one track - if it's something like Attack, if you go at your limit it can become a sink or swim situation. i.e. if you don't leave for 5 minutes you may well collapse.
I've had people walk out of my classes before, but only a couple of times and it's been clear that it's people who haven't done Pump before (but have been too scared to say it was their first time) and just haven't liked it. That's ok. I don't think anyone's ever walked out of my class because they don't like me though.

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
I think it's very rude to walk out of a class without a pretty good reason. When I was a participant I had fill in instructors that I did'nt enjoy, but I never ever walked out. The only times I can think of when I ever left a class was either when I was having back troubles or something and I prewarned the instructor before the class, or I quickly whispered to the instructor between tracks that my back was playing up.
I think I've probably done that a maximum of about 3 times...........ever.
Walking out of ANYTHING, unannounced, in this society is generally considered impolite.
PS: I'm not refering to the 5 min breaks to get your breath back, go the toilet or get a drink etc.

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
I've never walked out of a class and I can't understand anyone that would (unless it was an injury or time issue)? It's just 1 class! If you don't like what the instructor is doing, don't go back, but don't walk out! You don't realise what a plonker you look like to the other participants either! Never had anyone do this in my classes without a reason that they have told me about before the class. Walking out of a class says more about you than the class/instructor!
I was in a cycle class as a participant when the instructor walked out at the start of the class because the mic packed up!

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
I have had people walk out of Attack on me before and honestly, it annoys me. It annoys me because i can see the reason they have walked out is because they are very new and unfit and attack is a damn hard class, but that said, i provide option after option after option for beginners, i constantly demonstrate the low impact moves myself and will then switch to high impact for everyone who wants to go harder. But do they do the low impact options? No, the will try and push to the high impact for the whole class, then decide its too hard and walk out. A new woman walked out on me once during the latest push-up track "i don't care"....after attempting to do all on her toes. I mean yeah, that track is hard, but if you do the whole walking forward and backward plank on your knees its practically a recovery. Also, do people not read class descriptions? "An athletic high energy workout"....if you are seriously unfit that may not be the best class for you to try for your FIRST CLASS (i have had people in attack that have never done aerobics of any kind before).
That said, i once walked out of attack because i got lightheaded and couldn't continue, for these reasons, leaving is fair enough, but because "its too hard" annoys me

I remember when I first started I would do low options because I couldn't do a move like a superman or even flick quick or to catch my breath but it was very frustrating especially when you're surrounded by the veterans who do all the high impact moves... in my mind it wold make me look bad/weak.

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
We had a woman walk out of class once - she had got her time wrong... turned up at 9am for Combat, thinking it was 10am for Step (which follows Combat). She put down her step then another participant said you don't need a step for Combat, then she got all grumpy and thought LM had changed the timetable on her!!

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
Yes, the first time I did BA I had to limp off and I felt so guilty. Half way through track 3 I got a searing pain in middle of both calves, and because the class was packed there was nowhere to nurse myself! I apologised to the instructor at the end though. I later realised (though they don't tell you) that you have to really warmup the legs before the class if you're going for high impact. The 'warmup track' is just not enough, and I think everyone at some stage finds this out for themselves.
I've never walked out since, though, even on the odd occasion when a class is awful. This is no pansy aerobics class, and I respect the instructors for all they have to learn and do. I just wouldn't do it, period!

I have never warmed up before a bodyattack class. When I first started doing it, I used to get pain in my calves but that gradually subsided as I got strength in my calf muscles and got used to the impact.
It's probably more about technique (keeping your heels down) and conditioning than it is about warming up, although warming up beforehand is probably a good thing, just not essential.

Re: anyone walk out of a class??
I'm intrigued to know why you think it's not essential to warm up before going to a class like Attack? I
think it is. I don't think anyone should do any class without warming
up before coming to a class. The warm up tracks in any class are just
not enough to properly warm up the body and prepare the muscles for
what lies ahead. Sure warm up tracks in classes have dynamic exercises
in but 3-4mins just isn't sufficient, more so for a class like
Attack.
Body Attack...Everything else is a warm up!!

Gosh, i know how it feels when people just turn up not reading the class description before hand, and then leaving halfway, which i get a sinking feeling (this has recently happened last Friday and another case a while back)....a little part of me sinks when i see them walk out.....seriously, if you want to take your fitness to the next level, then Attack or RPM (even better both) is the way to go (not sure about combat though..)
From a participant p.o.v, i delayed doing attack for a long time but i got the courage to try my first class (a loong time ago) and to this day, LOVE attack although it is challenging RPM on the otherhand....i've seen people walk out of that class as well, thinking that its too boring or hard...its all about resistance and the thing that really frustrates me is that they are 'so scared of turning up the resistance..'
RPM + Attack + Step + Pump + sometimes balance participant...breathes on les mills <3
