    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

    speedie:

Question for the geeky types: how are you managing all the gear in the shoulder track? I'm looking for efficiency and safety solutions that work through all the transitions. What I'm talking about is the positioning of the bar vs bench vs mat (hello Auckland, we don't all have carpet!) vs plates ..... vs all the other crap lying around (towel, drink bottle, other plates, risers left over from the lunge track if they haven't been put away).

To consider in your suggestions:  1. Participants stand BEHIND their benches at our gyms. 2. They can't stand on their mats because they're not safe, yet we need to go from standing to kneeling in the same spot. 3. Limited floor (and stage!) space. 4. Gym rules ban packing away of weights between tracks.

The only solution so far has to be pack away the risers before the lunge track. But that doesn't do much to ease the 'crap everywhere' problem in the shoulder track when there are so many transitions and different bits of gear needed in different places. And then you get the time wasters who lose a reps because they're busy laying their towel on their mat or trying to catch their bar rolling away or repositioning because they're in someone's way. For those doing pushups off their bench, their bar might be in the way and their mat in the wrong orientation.

Can anyone paint us a mental picture or draw a diagram if you're in the same (cramped) situation and have worked this through?

In such situations I'd replace this shoulder track pretty quickly. If you have the original from 39, use it. It's got a better beat, better flow, and it's almost the whole minute longer.

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

    Did my first BP71 tonight and I have to say I was not overly impressed;

Warmup - I liked this very uplifting track

Squats - hard work, but Summer of 69?? - yuck yuck yuck, what are they thinking?

Chest - Needed more weight than usual so wasn't very hard - I'll load up next time

Back - Constant clean and jerk did nothing for me - loved the row in between, guess I'll get used to it

Triceps - constant changes meant a disjointed workout

Biceps - loaded up here after the first few tracks and boy did I pay - excellent track and workout

Lunges  - what linnet head devised this - I'm a bloke, I'm uncoordinated ( thats the reason I do pump) crapola with a capitol C- If I wanted to do step, I'd have joined a step class - NO NO NO NO!

Shoulders - Glad I decided on a light load as this is really tough

Abs - Loved the reverse curls - really felt these - need to do more!

Cooldown - Sober??? again NO! this should be a mellow track

Guess a lot of these will grow on me, but the lunges have me perplexed. Guess you can't please everyone.

Ahh... wat can i say........ 1) They used Sober in RPM 44 AND 2) The Chest track in pump is used in the same time as Attack 66.....

track 2 was hard (feel drip sweating), chest i needed to load up next time, biceps killed my forearms, back and tricep were meh (but i should have gone back to normal for my back), lunges- haha nearly fell but thats ok coz im picking up bodystep soon, shoulders - wat the....this was really tough but i loved the remake of it!!!! Abs - interesting with the platform Huh?

    Overall im in the middle

RPM + Attack + Step + Pump + sometimes balance participant...breathes on les mills <3

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

I just did it tonight again

And my feelings are Biceps is OK  this time because I respect the pace given by the instructor and with the right weight The track with Linkin Park is great!

The squats were OK also as I'm used to the 8 bottom halves now

It's interesting how muscles get "out of practice", yet adapt when challenged again so quickly.

8-in-a-row BHs are hardly unusual amongst the back releases, yet each time we go back to them after doing the 4x or 2x BHs they always seem tough for the first few classes.

No need to get unnecessarily scientific about it, but the changing chore/regime with each release is one of the reasons I keep going back.

    Trance,

Yes, That what I was thinking  about too: it's quite challenging for the first times, but after that our muscles get used to the effort.

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

Being old school Emma Barry said that to me :) back 11-years ago we had a few tracks that has 8X bottom. Most we singles we had occasional bottom halves. I can name a few releases that we had 20 singles and 28 singles in a row. Mike went through a period with 4 pulse lower halves. You have not done squats till you have done Now we are Free Dreamgate, Send me an Angel DJ Cosmos and Small Town Boy Bronski Beat from Bodypump 24 "ouch" and Ready to Go Republica tons of bottom halves and singles.

Bodypump 71 is an outstanding release. If you have not done the 40's series of Bodypump then this is the closest you will ever get to how Bodypump used to be :)

Congrats to Glen and the team for an awesome release :) I love every part of Bodypump 71 from track 1 - track 10 :)

Coming soon a new concept no one has ever done before and it has been in the planning for the past 4 years.

I have never done 40# . But I guess that was a challenging one too.

My first in 61 or 62#

What is the toughest so far for you?

    François.

    There is no "toughest release".

However there have been plenty of toughest tracks and you'd have to pick and chose across releases. This would be completely subjective, and every time that question has been asked on this forum we've had as many different choices as posts.

There was nothing particularly magical about the 40s or any other set of releases, but people will always tend to favourably remember the releases they started with.

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

As for me, the toughest one I've ever done is 69# because I found all the songs are pretty challenging

The tracks in there are also awsome Big Smile

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

I just did the day before

And I wonder why the instructor kept on skiping the break for biceps tracks.

     I have to tell him.

    So it was very tough..
