    Re: Sizzler Combat 42

I too was at the B'Bane workshop and participated in Combat.  Loved the moves and music (although did NOT appreciate having the music turned up to 'scream' volume, which apparently could be heard in the carpark -  not good for longevity in hearing).

Welcome back to leg conditioning bigtime.  And because I'm a Muay Thai girl, I was almost weeping tears of joy with the 8mins of this track (oh hang on, maybe they were tears of pain... ).

I did find this release quite "dark" though (and that was also a major complaint about BC40 from all my participants at 3 different gyms).

I watched the DVD today for the "heart and soul", not just the moves and music, and wasn't disappointed.

The MT was fantastic......  There were definitely some sound issues yesterday - I ended up at the back for Pump and could barely understand the instructors which made the workout frustrating......  Can't wait for the new venue next year - hopefully it has a better sound system too as well as air conditioning!!!

Dark?  Just curious to know -- in those three gyms, what portion of the participants are male and what portion are female?  Anyway, I will look forward to 42 then, as I must admit that I like the dark side in Combat.

So damn easy to say that life's so hard Everybody's got their share of battle scars. As for me, I'd like to thank my lucky stars that I'm alive and well... It'd be easy to add up all the pain And all the dreams you sat and watched go up in flames. Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain. But not me...I'm alive (Kenny Chesney)

Dark as in "angry".  A mid-morning class - mostly mothers, with 3 guys (rofl, they LOVE being the only guys there at that time).   An early evening class - half-and-half but small.  And a "Friday Fight Night" with hard-core Combatters who like to push themselves to the limit (about 3/4 female 1/4 male).  I don't think it matters as to female/male ratio as, strangely, I got feedback from both that BC40 was a very 'angry' release (and that's their words, not mine).  I'm not their only instructor either.

They really embraced BC39 and BC41 as they had "lighter" moments in the chorey and music.  I have the most requests when mixing in all the gyms, for stuff like "Hairspray", "YMCA", "Shake Ya Shimmy",  "Back In The UK", "Sweet Child Of Mine".  And, I have only just mixed out "Ballroom Blitz" (simply due to the fact I'd had ENOUGH of listening to it after almost 12wks  Big Smile ).  Although my participants want to 'blitz' out the opponents, they do like to have a little 'sunshine' within the release as well.

Hey, great that you like the dark side (I must admit, I am drawn to it myself - "come to the dark side Luke Skywalker..."), but as an instructor, I see it from many perspectives.

OMG - we aren't doing Bodybalance here.

We have had a run through of the New Release (couple of times) - (I'm a participant) and everytime after the awesome MT I have to laugh especially the lyrics at the beginning of the Power Training right after the MT.  Sounds really preppy and girly quite a change to the MT.  LOL

Can't wait!!! Can't wait! Can't wait for that "epic" Muay Thai track... love, love, love the fact that it was Muay Thai that inspired this release. Oh, and I am very much hoping for some jump knees, it's been a while since we had those.

    Re: Sizzler Combat 42

Have now learned it all.  Today is the first time I will practice at high impact (*chews fingernails wondering if I will be fit enough*).  Then I've got the next 4 days of high impact work prior to launch Monday morning.

Must say the "sweep" in track 4 is a glorious move.  Burns my abs like nothing else.

    Re: Sizzler Combat 42

I was lucky enough to do the release in an AMAZING master class with Rachael and Vanessa (she presented track 3 in BC39) and about 800 more combat fanatics in Portugal. the only thing that really could have made it any better was if Dan had also been there. For a participant like me in Portugal, it was an unforgetable experience. So no matter what, BC42 will always be special to me and i'm sure this goes for anyone that was there.

Now that being said, mostly throughout the class I was in a state of trance so you could've had a track 7 to banjo music and I would've thought it was cool. But honestly, the soundtrack was more to my liking then some other releases..hey scooters back...can't go wrong with that!!

As for the moves...not really a fan of the sweep move yet so i'll have to do another class to really give a consious opinion. Track 6 is a killer for the legs!! although I had done the Body Pump release a little over an hour before Combat, they started getting a little wobbly.

ohh..before track 8 starts say goodbye in advance to your shoulders (once again a kind contribution from BPump)

Once again i might be wrong but i can't remember any back kicks at all and side kicks can't remember any besides the warm up.Guess if your going to have a Muay Thai based theme this might be expected...but me likes those Sad
