    Suggestions for Push-ups with Arthritis?

    Hi Everyone,

I've been going to the LM group classes for about a month now - WOW!  They are simply awesome.

One thing that I've been struggling with is doing push-ups.  One of my wrists is only capable of achieving a 45 degree angle due to arthritis.  Do you have any suggestions as to how I can still do push-ups with the rest of the class while avoiding direct wrist impact?

    Thank you! Smile

You could try placing a couple of dumbells on the floor where you would normally place your hands, grip them with your wrists straight and push up from there. Or if no dumbells available make a fist and keeping the wrists straight rest on your fists. good luck!

    Hi,

Do the press up against a wall. Satnd about 18 inches from the wall, lean into the wall and imagine the wall is the floor.

I agree with this recommendation! I use the backs of my hands (fists) for push ups when my wrists are troubling me.
