Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

I see your point. Right now that is not working for me when we bring it back half-way through Everybody Everybody, but I think a lot of that is my instinct to go all out and get lost in the dance when I go clubbing to house music! I can make a case for building up the drama early on. I'm sure I can find it in me to sell it when push comes to shoveBig Smile

I like the Hi-Tack remix of Let's Dance so much that I've already choreographed and performed an aerial fabric solo to it. If nothing else, Release 44 has reminded me of how much I love house dance and house music! It's "my thing"!

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

Hello everyone...i have been teaching jam for 2 years and thank God G has finally given us an easy bodyJam to learn.  I really appreciate the choreography but its impossible to find people who can and will teach bodyjam.  I have had two professional dancers who were amazing at teaching the program quit becuase even they found it took too long to learn.  This release is much easier but the instructor has to be able to motivate people to enjoy the simple nature by getting lost in the pwer of the music....like in song 8..the chorography is simple but the intensity in the moves can increase because particapnts dont have to worry about too much choreography.  A nice balance is to have more simple releases and Jam instrcutors can always mix and match with previous releases.  i teach bodystep, flow and pump as well and here in canada Jam classes are popular but they could be even better if we didnt always have so much complex choreography.  Although i think that current Jam Instrcutors might find this release too easy because they have obviously had succes with Jam thus far..I think youll find youll attract MORE people interested in teaching jam if you keep it a little more simple.  G and rachel are so good on stage and Jam is an unbeleivable addition to the LMI Team...This current release has an amazing team teaching it !!!  Good on ya!!

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

hey shim what is a ' an aerial fabric solo' tell me more so i can add itBig Smile

I like the fact G always says once participants are comfy with the release you can add your own flair and perormance : )

Hey Janice, I think if it gets any easier i would lose members. I think we have the perfect balance right now. In terms of learning it yes, its hard at first and does get a little easier in time but i kinda think thats what also makes jam soooooooooo rewarding to teach for those who want to improve their own teaching skills and ability.

You know the only thing that makes jam so hard to learn is not having clear reference points in a track. For example the choreography was simple for the last hip hop block but remembering where there changes happen is not easy and that is what takes the time, you have to listen to it or watch it a zillion times to remember it.

I sometimes think it would be great if there was a sound effect that would help us know that there is a change coming, like the old combat but without the bell!!?

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

LOL... i remembered how the bell sounds like ""Dong".. sure u wanna to have something like that? Wondered what is the best sound?

Speaking of old releases,  some members said they liked the "perfornance block" at the end of the block. Say jam 34,35, eg: Jam 34 hip hop block has a few songs to get the members to familiarise with the moves and at the end, there is this great performance block with 3 songs, where members can dance it out. Its just maybe what they meant by the days of flashdance. Its like any freestyle dance, the choreo builds up and everyone will hve a chance to "perform". :)

How about the sound of a rack being tightened, in keeping with the Spanish Inquisition theme? Wink

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

    Glad you enjoyed it!

Check your profile messages, Mrrocket, I answered your question Wink

I learn the tracks best by listening to the music as I practise, even before I hit the notes to check where the counts are. I think that helps me *feel* where the changes are coming up. It is a little tough with the Green Light track though in the beginning.

I have been running the Club choreo to random pieces of house music that play on my fave music stations and it holds up well. So that's great. I will speak no more of the combo that brings me down, that'll just be my thingHmm

Change the "not" in this sentence to a "do" and you've got it right.

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

Big SmileDevil Die laughing....no!! I dont mean bring out flash dance with new choreo. but I mean is that,Something like in Jam 34, the hip hop block there is a performance block with 3 different songs for us to dance to. That kinda feel. . We are moving on, to new songs, new dance styles. The members kinda mentioned that the new releases are less dancier more cardio intense.

Ops by the way.... safety cue very important for 2nd block, I heard that someone was injured doing the house tap, twisted his./her ankle and hosptalised... I seriously dont know how it happened... still trying to find out more information.

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

Your right mrrocket..if there were better ways to know when the changes were it would be so much easier..I actually dont mind the amount of choreography but what i dont like is having to spend hours and hours learning every 3 months..mostly because the changes are hard to uncover from just listening to the music..good idea

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

I agree with what is being said about learnig chorey...we have lost many Jam instructors because they did not have the time or desire to go through the learning process.  It would be nice to keep it easier to learn for instructors, but Im not sure if that would give members the authenticy and style they deserve and want??

Personally I love learning new chorey...I was talking with another group of instructors interested in teaching Jam andd the big question, how long does it take you to learn a release?  I have heard many instructor brag about how long it doesn't take them to learn a Jam release....I am on the exactly opposite side of the coin....it takes me as long as it takes to absorb the music and movement and blend it into my body until the dance feels like the natural and obvious expression of the music.   I listen to the music, watch the dance, dance the dance, work on techniques  and then set about "learning the chorey"  although by that time it goes down pretty quickly because I know the music and moves so well....

44 was easier than many...and Im looking forward to the challenge I hear we are all going to get with 45!!

Re: Body Jam 44: What are your thoughts?

I like learning new chorey... ever since my main source of dance classes shut down this is the closest I get to learning new dances on a regular basis similar to what I used to have access to. That's probably why I get so bummed when it seems "too easy"... I admit I'm looking for the same experience of being technically challenged. If Jam got too much easier in the interest of gaining more participants I'd be pretty disappointed. I can take/teach a lame/cheesy dance fitness class anywhere else. With this program we get great music and the opportunity to challenge our participants in a whole new way.

Working on this one has gotten me inspired to hit the dance-clubs again and start refreshing my house dance skills Cool. Good thing it's Fiesta in San Antonio right now... Bonham Exchange here I come!
