Body Combat outside on the street?

Our BRAND NEW gym has been open for almost a month and this saturday 31st October they are having a massive street party to celebrate - and they are closing down part of the street. check out lesmills.co.nz/203cashel for details...

A popular radio station will be there, plus they are giving away Nike prizes and gym memberships... it sounds like it is going to be a fantastic day and the weather forecast looks good!

As part of the 'street party' they are having 2 classes outside (on the street). Body Combat at 10am and Body Attack at 2pm

My question is - has anyone done Body Combat outside like this before? - what are the risks?

a couple of people have expressed concern about doing combat 'on the street' but I can't wait!!  Stick out tongue

I participated in a Fall Fitness Fest over a year ago and we launched all the new releases outside that day. I think the participants were much safer on the street than we were on the wobbly stage.

Also taught BC on a tennis court for a charity function this past summer. As long as everyone has towels or mats for Track 9 it's all good.

Sounds a very good concept. I've never experienced that. But it would be definetly so much fun

Hope u guys have a great street party!

Jumping around on concrete or asphalt can be hard on the knees - just make sure to have low impact options available so no one gets hurt.

My exact and immediate thoughts also!

Newbies (potentially new members) will be the most vulnerable, of course.

Why doesn't management think these things through????????????

The gym that I worked had a grand re-opening and we did something similar. Our knees were a little tender, but the hardest thing was the heat from the asphalt. We did just a few tracks and sweat was pouring out of me. Make sure and hydrate.
