I don’t know where the moves came from for the Tai Chi track in 44 but there are several examples of Chinese/Tai Chi Sword dance forms on the internet. Some say the different Sword dances were a way of maintaining a military vigilance during peaceful times in China. As for history they were mentioned in literature during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) but probably started during the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD).
I have also seen sword dances before... a long time ago.
It's a form of martial art, but not necessarily "tai chi"

I think the dance inspired from 44 is more Middle Eastern flavored...looks and feels that way
