I shall now attempt to put a more "user friendly" train of thought and will apologise for the use of "I" in some instances, as some will be a "we"
Mr Beachbody, as with Tony, I taught fresstyle for years, I too taught from a hall.It was successful. There was a creche, a genuinely "qualified instructor" not "coach".
The people who came loved it because I (we guys) was passionate about making a difference to their lives, not about the almighty dollar. Yes, it was financially succesful but that was reliant on me (insert instructor) making it happen.
I am not averse to change, we move with the times..BUT I have extreme concerns with those who really have no background who want those with (or perhaps not with these changes) to earn THEM money(with the new scheme, not the big chains).
How do you expect to be Mr Tupperware without training yourself? Do you understand how annoyed LM instructors are? We're a passionate bunch who do it more for the love than the dollars..and you? You *** me to tears mate, sorry but you do. I COMPLETELY understand all the negative feedback..and as much as Zumba has done an incredible job in marketing (Tubinas, I also get your arguement)..these guys are not about driving business back to genuine clubs..they are ALL about them..I hope this poor attempt helps, but when you have guys like Mr Pyramid? I think not.
Stay strong LMers..only the crap GFIs will jump onboard this..which will do all the good ones NO favours..nor LMI.
I shall shut up now...
I am also TOTALLY DISGUSTED with this!!! We have worked our butts off during training and had to pay for training and new releases and they go to BEACHBODY!!! Really!! Les Mills is now into Infomercials!!!
SAD SAD

Just for clarity LM admin - whe you use the word "too" it means "as well". I'd love to know where you got the idea from in this thread that the general feeling was one of excitement?
Look up the following words:
Trepidation
Concerned
Angry
Disappointed
and then refer to the phrase "selling out"...
Because, from what I can see on this thread - those are the main points that have come out...
All lost. All mandatory for us to pass assessment, right?
I only got trained on 71 but are there really any releases with 800 reps in a single track? :/ the only one I ever counted was the latest squats track and it was 135, and that was for a t-shirt giveaway at release.
I think the 800 rep count was for the class not one track.
I agree the video is cheesy to say the least but the concept doesn't bother me that much. And I am a huge LM fanatic. I just finished my 4th cert and am attending the BP AIM2 in a few weeks. I don't think LM offering an at home version takes away from any of that or make what we do in our classes any less special.
V_is_for_Violet:I think the 800 rep count was for the class not one track.
hard to tell what they meant, they said "routines" . I would think a real BodyPUMP class, start to finish, would be over 800 reps total. But this is the stuff infomercials are made of right? the OMG I NEED THAT factor.
Shaun_in_oz: mlynn:This is REAL? Honestly. I have done nothing but support and be "true blue" to Les Mills since my first training. I'm really disappointed. REALLY. To the point where I wish I hadn't signed up for another program. Beachbody is AWFUL. I agree with you. This goes against the very principles that Les Mills stands for; in fact, one of our recent ed sessions (BP 78, "Global Trends") talks about the importance of EXERCISE IN GROUPS, MUSIC, and INSTRUCTOR as the key to LM programs. By doing at home DVDs LMI is eliminating two out of those three factors. The safety issues related to this are astonishing ... imagine hordes of people doing a C&P without proper instruction ... or a lunge with their heel on the floor ... or a chest press with their lower back arched ...I also agree that this is a monumental slap in the face to all instructors. Not only are we apparently not vital to the Les Mills experiences, but we had to sign contracts saying we would not use our materials in non-LM clubs, or show materials to non-instuctors, lest we face a major fine. Apparently it is okay, however, for newbies to go home and teach themselves Bodypump using the materials we weren't to show them. This smacks of a cash grab, and is very unbecoming of LMI. The entire organisation should be ashamed of themselves. Why not merge with Zumba and REALLY make some money. My god ...

I thought the SAME EXACT THING! And the Zumba thing as well. Seriously!?!?!?!?!?! One reason I detest Zumba so is because of their false advertising, and now to see Les Mills, a company that I always held in high regard, succumbing to this CRAP! I am so deeply disappointed! This truly stinks on ice! Why did I go through all of the training, all of the hard work, THE VIDEO, and why did I sign something saying I wouldn't share the materials with non-instructors or take the program to a non licensed facility? This is total crap! And not to mention, BeachBody SUCKS!

Couple of things:
what's the problem with Zumba?
While I think it's a bad message to send out to release this at all (considering the LMI stance in the past concerning why there are no home versions and how essential the instructor led class model is to their classes) it isn't going to be what we know as BodyPump (so it'll be a watered down version of the programme - which magically burns double the calories).
Mind you, bear in mind that the average American watching the shopping channels weighs 400 lbs so maybe 1k cals isn't unreasonable...

While exaggerated, there is a disturbing amount of truth in this statement.
Upto 7 pages of critical feedback and this is just on the forums! Imagine when its common knowledge amongst other instructors!
LMI please address the critical feedback rather than always trying to use the words exciting and opportunities. And please explain this 'fact' of 1000 calories. Under what circumstances would this occcur?
Dan Cohen has it linked up on his website.
I'm not sure I think this is the end of the world as an instructor. I'd want to see more before I make up my mind. I wonder if things like the C&P or lunges will be in them. Form is important in all the work groups, but my thinking is that it's far more important from a safety perspective in areas such as the C&P or lunge.
I also do think that something like CXWorx might have been a better at home opportunity.
As an aside, I was watching the DVD for BP 79. The transition from where Glen was talking during the intro to where Susan began the warm up, it struck me as kind of awkward and not very polished, at least compared to other releases. Energy kind of seemed down in that release.
Maybe that's just my perspective, but I would hope that Les Mills Pump does a better job in it's at home presentation than what I saw in that release.

Hilarious! And sadly sort of true....
Glen, not Glen O the choreographer, but Glen the blogger, has written a very good post reflecting this announcement. I think he has summarised everyone's feelings (both negative and positive) quite well. Well worth a quick read.
According to Dan's blog http://andstaywiththefight.blogspot.com/ these DVD's will feature Les Mills pump along with "other" Les Mills programs. Apparently this can't be taught in clubs nor can BeachBody representatives teach it anywhere.
Personally I feel that if Les Mills was lagging in clubs here in the states and wanted to get more people "in" Les Mills classes the best and most effective support for us and them would be commercial advertising specifically for gyms that "pay" and liscense their programs. Fairly, this has been the approach and phenomenon of Turbo Jamin/Kickin and Zumba.
Glen O's post is really quite good, and he hits the nail on the head.
The major concerns are:
(A) The complete lack of respect LMI showed to its instructors in not informing us of this earlier, and allowing us to find out second hand from Beachbody Coaches willing to sell us their cheap wares. Considering the amount of devotion LMI receives from its instructor base (not to mention the amount we spend yearly on releases and training), we deserved better. LMI owes us a profound apology, not that I see this forthcoming. It certainly draws into question the integrity of LMI as an organisation, and makes me question doing further training with a group that clearly does not have respect for its instructors.
(B) Cheapening of the LMI and Bodypump brand. The rep effect? You gotta be kidding me.
At least the Beachbody people seem to have stopped posting ... that's a positive!

I was just about to post the same comment, except I was going to call them "spammers" instead of "Beachbody people."
