jvisch:It is about your average male gym member, they ain't challenged hence they don't come. One shouldn't need to exhaust oneself first before one gets a work out from an aerobics class.
I somewhat agree with visch. Personally LM aerobics are a bit easy (other than BP which isn't really aerobic and is not as tough as I would like either but that's another story) I prefer higher speeds in my workouts, however BA does seem to be better than the other LM classes when it comes to the song speeds with 150-166 BPM songs, the problem is that 166 still isn't that much, how about a 210 BPM speed drill? I mean BS goes to 200 and they use a bench, this is all floor and maxes out at 166.
However I did like the music from BA more than any other LM class, I even though that if I would want to teach any of these LM programs BA would be the one since the music was decent. Best song in BA 61 is "The Question Is, What Is The Question?" is that Scooter in the song? However then it goes into song 7 "You Can't Stop The Beat (Hairspray Yuck Song)", I've never seen the movie despite my wife owning it and saying she likes this song, it sounds horrible. If I were in a BA training class I would walk out due to this song, there is no way I would ever put this in my workout class, I would substitute it for anything else. I would accept a FAIL rather than to put up with this garbage, and thus I could never even consider being a LM instructor.
Oh and when I meant I somewhat agree, sure these LM programs aren't that challenging for me (heck the stuff I usually work out to constantly goes past 500 BPM and sometimes past 1000 BPM, that makes 166 seem very tame) but most men at my local gym are elderly, overweight, or body builders, not many athletic men go to the gym (since you can get better workouts bicycling, running, etc.) and thus these LM programs are perfect since they seem to be geared toward the un-fit population, but men still won't attend for reasons mentioned in this thread with the ego issues. However I plan to go to a few BA classes to support my wife (I'm leaving after the Miracle song and I'll return in 5:15), should be a breeze other than some part where you're supposed to run in in circles (isn't 160 BPM too slow to run? I normally run at 170 and that's with a BIG stride, I'm 6'7", running small steps at 160 sounds boring).
