Australia is too hot for me, I prefer colder climate so I can achieve the burn.

But I have done as you asked....

i dont know why I am replying... but i have to say please post a video of yourself doing straight legs kicks and touching the floor inbetween.  I either want to laugh my head off or marvel at your ability to defy physics.

    please.

oh and saying that a 10r ironman triathelete is not in arobic shape is like saying a pro powerlifter isnt strong.

I teach Attack 3 times a week...never a dull moment in class, never had someone not be challenged either that they have to touch the floor in between kicks :P

I too want to see a video of this...please :D

I am sorry Jvisch but I reckon you are either full of bull or you are the bionic man!!!

Attack not challenging enough for you???  music too slow???? WHAAAAAT??

I have yet to see someone who is putting in all the effort that you claim to be putting in, yet not feeling the workout.  Maybe you need to enter your self in to the guinness book of records!

As for your instructors not NEEDING to correct you...have you ever thought that maybe they see you as too arrogant and therefore dont BOTHER with you?

    Just my 2 cents

Re: Body Attack & Male Participants

I couldn't agree with you more!!  I'm a genuine straight guy who absolutely LOVES bodyattack  - simply because it's such an awesome fitness class. I'd never heard of it a year ago - until I accidentally walked into the wrong class (BodyPump was on at the same time in a different studio) and I'd have felt a bigger fool walking out rather than giving it a go. I wasn't fit then, and my calves were in agony after track 4. I had no idea this class is in a totally different league from anything else, and that for me was a challenge to be met - even if I am the only guy there. Now you can't keep me away from it. I'm really good at it now, and I'm happy with the attention I get from all those well fit girls!  Plus I'm way fitter myself now than most people I know.

My mates - who all refuse to do BodyAttack - say it's for girls, and they stick with weights only. If only they knew. Notice the ones who criticise won't usually attempt it themselves. Reality is most blokes haven't got the bottle to risk looking silly on the first attempt, especially in front of girls - but they don't realise girls don't see it that way. I'm pretty sure of that. I've not had one strange look, or stare, or critical comment from anyone wherever I've done BodyAttack. Ever.

My advice to any bloke who's thinking of doing it but is wary - get over it and just do it - It's great fun, you'll get fitter quicker through this than anyrthing else, you'll make friends, and you won't look back honest!!

How does one post a video?

    jvisch:
Ok I am curious how do you make it challenging?

The biggest challenge in BA, in general, is keeping the proper muscles engaged in EVERY movement. Anyone can just flail their arms and legs around. Keep the core on throughout the class, control the arm movements with the back/shoulders, engage the whole leg on flicks/kicks, keep the heels/legs high on the runs, etc. Do that and I guarantee you'll sing a different tune.

Or how about taking the ultimate challenge? Get on the other side of the stage. Share your "aerobic gift" with those who strive to get there as all of us here on the forum have done....

Re: Body Attack & Male Participants

Oh wow... I was part of this thread at the beginning cause it is an interesting topic and then... I see it has taken a completely different course. I soooo want to see that video... But, I have one question: Why oh why, jvisch are you so involved in this forum? No wait, why are you registered here at LM if LM is... so not a challenge for you? No wait, why are you wasting time with LM classes since obviously you are the king of cardio, the hero of the fittest...

Is that video on you tube??? As soon as I see your strength, your superfit body executing superintense cardio workout, you will officially become my own idol... At least, fitness wise.

Until then, I have to say that I haven't see one person who has found BA "not so challenging". In fact, I haven't seen a person, in the two years I have been doing BA regularly (4 classes a week) that hasn't been overwhelmed by the 55-60 minute workout. Then again, we all are just regular humans

    :-)

Back to the ACTUAL topic of the thread, last Thursday, the 9:30 am class, which is usually a class very low in attendance (6, 7, maybe 9 people), had more men than women... Actually girls. There were only two of us females. Incredible! Very first time. Not going to repeat the reasons, in my opinion, for the low percent of "males" in BA class.

... Is the video on???... can't wait, can't wait...

    M.

According to his posts in Bodyjam and Bodycombat forum, he thinks the class is not suited for him as a person with dance background, as the routine is very simple, it will get boring and there is no challenge. and, I quote, he doesn't "currently feel anything in body combat."

I'm looking forward to his next posts where he will probably tell us how he can easily tie himself into double knots in Balance and lift not only  more weight than the rest of the Pump class combined, but also the participants lifting the weight..

No animals were harmed in posting this message, although the yorkshire terrier next door is living on borrowed time, let me tell you.

Re: Body Attack & Male Participants

First, I am not an Attack instructor, not yet anyway!

I think this guy, jvisch, is just yanking everyones chain to get a laugh. We all know how challenging BA is no matter how long you do the program it never gets any easier. The only thing that gets easier is you learn the moves so when the instuctor makes the next call you are not stumbling over yourself to do a flick kick or something.

I consider myself to be in fairly decent shape and Attack completley kicks my but EVERY time! If it gets easier make the moves bigger and move with more power!

As for the original subject on this thread; Sometimes I am the only guy in the roomDevil and sometimes their are a few others. Guys just need to get over the stereo-type that Group Fitness is just for the females. I completley understand not wanting to look bad in front of the girls, but I am very sure that they are not interested in any kind of "speed dating" while doing Attack or any other program.

And jvisch, I can't wait until you launch your own line of fitness videos and products that will capture the worlds attention and transform the mere mortal into the cardio god you claim to be.Hmm
