    Looking for LAUNCH Ideas!

    Hi Jammers-

We're making JAM the program of the next quarter at my gym, which I am psyched about, of course, since I think it should ALWAYS be the program of the quarter. Smile

But we want to do this really huge, get everyone involved, create an atmosphere that screams JAM, and make it so that everyone comes in and gets immediately hooked.   We have a full Saturday to make a full event.  So give me ALL your ideas - ideas are fine, they don't have to be tried.  And don't consider cost.  Think outside the box.

We already do the traditional launch things: multiple instructors, costumes, glowsticks to members to use in class, light machines.
So looking for other things to really make JAM pop and get everyone involved.  (Trying also to help people get over that whole "JAM is too complicated for me because I have no rhythm" thing that some have.)

    Bring on your thoughts!

A full day just for Jam? That sounds amazing...does that mean that you teach the class more than once during the day?

What we have done in the past/do right now: when we hard launch Jam, we typically do it it on a Friday night, and turn the place into a club. We have a small happy hour (45 mins) before, where everyone can get to know each other and get comfortable, do the release, and then have the after party. You can hand out passes, you can recruit some of your big Pump instructors to be "bouncers," and of course you have to wear your hottest Jam outfit!

I haven't seen 44 yet (still stalking the mailman), but some things that we have thought about: usually  our launches follow a theme, and it can be anything from reality TV (Survivor, Deal or No Deal?, etc.) to movies, to Totally Les Mills. One that I heard about that I still want to do: if you have ever seen Project Runway, they have that giant white screen that the models stand behind before they walk the runway. Set up a couple of those with some backlights, and get your instructors back there posing or dancing the track. Hot! For Deal or No Deal, have the instructors be the models and in the briefcases are the names of the tracks/names of the blocks in the new release. You can even have your gym chip in some merchandise to give away.

I think the most important thing is to get creative and do something that will draw a crowd. Don't be afraid to go all out, because your participants can tell when you have put the extra effort in, and they respond in kind. Keep us posted how it goes! With pics!

I'm thinking on the same lines as rightyboy - I would also include "happy hour" as being a "juice bar" with healthy shooters and get your Dj friends to come in a spin for you.

We always have draws for the members and sometimes create a "rave" atmosphere by getting the members glow sticks and stuff.

Since it's an all day event, you could have dance school and have some of the members who excel to come on stage with you at some point.

Make t-shirts, flog water bottles, auction stuff off like Nike dance pants and shirts.

Or - you could always flog someone to go along with the Spanish Inquisition theme...

    Hey,

Thinking about doing Cupid Shuffle before we get started to get everyone moving...

easy and fun! Or having a break dancing group come in and Step it UP...

GET LIGHTS!!! (DISCO)Turn out the regular lights and spot light the stage!!!

    OUR MEMBERS LOVE IT DARK!!!

    Dress the part!

Those are some really good ideas, espically the happy hour/social before. After party sounds good too!
