    feeling akward ?! Help!

Ok here is my deal.. I have been doing BA since december 06... I know.. not very long.. however i am in love with the program.. and i just got certified in RPM now my next goal is BA. I have been doing as many BA classes as i can to get the stamina to the point i know i can go thru the training. (i can only attend 2 classes per week) anyway.. lately I have been looking carefully at my form using the mirrors in the room and i have broad shoulder/back and doing some of the upper body moves like in track 3 or the running tracks look kinda akward. Im just thinking that once my body get used to the demands on this program my body shape will be changing to a leaner longer me. (i used to lift free weights and not care do any classes since my gym didnt had them...

so am I headed the right way or there is something else i need to be looking for...

thanks for reading this and for any help!

i say go for it!! you'll learn all about proper technique in the training.

the best thing you can do to improve is to continue to do BA, and pay close attention to the instructor's form. everything comes with time. you also have to remember that you are your own worst critic. what may look "awkward" to you may in fact be correct or close to it.... i know i find it funny watching myself in the mirror!

i think it's a lot about feel as well... when i practice i don't usually watch myself because i know how the move should look and i execute it according to the guidelines... i.e. if i'm doing supermans, i know that my arm should fully extend and then pull back to my hip - make sure you use your full range of motion to do so.

hope that helps! and good luck with your training when you decide to take it!!

Go for it!  You obviously have the passion!  You will learn a lot more about technique in the training.  And then it is very important to practice your technique in front of the mirror and aim to move like the presenters on the DVD.

If you are worried about 'muscle bulk' making you look awkward, you may want to try other classes to increase your muscular endurance and flexibility and help build longer leaner muscles.  You can try BODYPUMP and BODYBALANCE/FLOW.

I hope this helps.  You will also learn about efficiency in your upper body moves, so that your arms move safely, uniformly and get you from starting point to finishing point with the least amount of effort/strain.

Winkthanks so much for your comments.. today i did BA and my instructor noticed that I have corrected a lot of the things she pointed out to me after the class was over a few weeks ago.. its good to have that kind of complimments knowing that I have been trying to correct it. WOHOO!!!! (happy dance)

on the muscle bluk... i dont really mind loosing it.. well not really loosing it but i dont actually need to be too bulk.. i know im headed to a leaner and fitter me in the end so that is just gratifying to me!!!!Yes

Dont lose the bulk man!  not if you dont want to!  you can keep it and still do Attack if you want trust me.  You may not be able to stay Arnold large but you dont have to be marathon runner skinny either.  im not a bean pole and I teach attack combat and pump.  all of those deter having larger muscle but I still lift heavy on my own time.  im about 6' and 195-190

its doable..  for songs three and six.... i had the same issues when I started....  for three square em up keep up there.  for six, i assume you mean you dont like the way you look when running forward and clapping.  if so try bring the hands a bit more to the front and not just to the side.   and if you do go to the training..... then start making the arm motions sharp.... all of them!

     go for it
