Tips for sending in training video

Hi Everyone!  I am coming up on that deadline to send in my video tape and I am so nervous.  Are any mistakes allowed?  I am so afraid of messing up even though I feel confident when teaching.  I would appreciate any input.  I have taught alot of programs but BC ROCKS!

    Hi SAADFAM!

I just passed my video a couple of months ago and yes I did have one choreo mind block for about 2 seconds but picked it up and one timing issue at the start of track 4 (mis timed the start slightly). BUT I wrote these things on my feedback form that you have to send in and it was fine. As long as they know you know it will be ok!

My tip was I did a dry run first, watched it back and gave myself harsh feedback. Then could really see the difference for the real thing. Even my Mum who watched both for me could see the difference and she's not an exercise person!

If you teach other programmes you know the Les Mills way so you will be at an advantage anyway! You will do great I am sure. Just try to enjoy it! And you're right BC does really rock!Cool

I'll second what TrolleyDolly said and do a dry run.  You'll be in shock, but once you know what you need to work on, it makes it easier.

Bear in mind that it is a video, so if you don't feel happy with it then re-film.

But don't get into a tailspin thinking it has to be 100% spot on.  I have heard that if you make a mistake, you've got 16 counts to rectify it before they count it as an error Wink  Oh and we've got one of the UK trainers and presenters at my gym  (though they are not a Combat one) and you know what -- they muck up a bit here and there too (which of course makes the rest of us feel a lot better Big Smile )

If you dread filming, just do it and send it in.  If it is utter pants, well you'll have to refilm the lot anyway.  But worse case you'll only have to refilm a track or two -- which is a whole lot easier than refilming the lot.  Plus you'll get feedback on what to fix.

Interestingly enough, you may even be surprised and shocked by the encouraging and constructive feedback you'll get from the assessor.  I know I was utterly gobsmacked by some of it and they offered some good pointers on things to work on which I have been trying to do.

    Hi Tim!

Glad to hear you passed as I know we were doing our vids about the same time from questions we asked around the same time!

    Smile

    Congrats!

Thanks for the great feedback, its amazing what being in front of the camera will do to your confidence.  I did miss a shuffle but quickly recovered! My only fear is I did not go over the stances and punches in the begining of the taping since there were not any new members the day..............opp's  Hope that doesn't make or break me!

Hopefully, worse case you'll be told to go over stances and kick height test.  I know I forgot the kick height test but there was no mention on the feed back.  But the chap I teach with sometimes was told to remember do to it.

Of course you can just say on the form that there were no new members and didn't go over stances but will in future.
