    Fitness Registration

Hey sorry, this is a bit off the mark. But if you have overseas qualifications who is the registration body to approach in the US? Does it differ in state to state. Any info or website links would be appreciated. Thanks :)

    Re: Fitness Registration

Hi Peachy, I actually work for Network in Australia so am a bit familiar with registration bodies overseas.

Believe it or not, there are no registration bodies in America! Ths big issue for you is getting insurance.  I would approach one of the training organizations such as the American Council on Exercise (www.acefitness.org) or the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (www.afaa.com).  They can probably tell you what you need to do to get an American recognised qualification and then get insurance.  They also both have links to insurance companies who you can contact and enquire.

Another option is to simply contact Les Mills in America.  I'm sure they would be happy to help you out with that and would be informed on what the procedures are.

    Good luck!!!

ISSA are a good point to start

do a google search for issa and certifcation the link should be at the top.

NSCA certification is also possible both have their strong points, I am biase towards ISSA because of my association on a forum with ISSA. But NSCA is excellent as well.

do a google search on cscs certification the link 2nd from the top is a good starting point. Generally certifcation is a personal thing in the USA as opposed to Australia where it is madatory for any one working in this industry.

    HTH!
