Heading to Europe for vacation-London, Sweden, Denmark BP?

OK, my husband is going on a business trip and I'm am super lucky to be going too!  I did the class locator thingy, but it means nothing to me as I have no idea where the clubs are in relation to my hotels.  Any help is appreciated!  Here's where we're staying--

London--Radisson Hotel--address is 22 Portman Square  W1H7GB (what is that, is it like the zip codes in the US?)

    Copenhagen--First Hotel Skt. Petri--address is Krystalgade 22 1172 Copenhagen

    Sweden--First Hotel Martensson--address is Storgatan 52, Halmstad, SE 302 43

I'm going to be gone for 2 weeks and I'm hoping to be able to come back and teach my classes like I was never gone!  :)

try google maps in order to located your hotel and the clubs.

London has a very good public transportation system so you would not have a problem. don't know about Copenhagen and Halmstad.

contact the clubs in advance to check wether they offer a one time entrance

    Hi Cheryl,

Can't speak for Copenhagen/Sweden but check out some of the big chain websites for the UK.

Fitness First/Virgin Active/Cannons etc. Then search for a location with roughly the same postcode ie W1H etc. Yes this is the same as a zip code in the US. You are right in the heart of central London so will be able to walk or get the tube once you have a location.

Most gyms have their timetable available on the website too so you can check out which classes you can go to.

Top tip if you can, ring in advance to check if there is a booking policy for classes or if you can just turn up. Also a rough price check would be $20 per visit for a guest so ask if they can do you a deal if you're gonna be there a few days and mention you are an instructor too. When I travel to Singapore I get a discount at the Fitness First I go to although I still have to pay.

My final tip - take a towel and a lock for a locker in case they don't have a key system! I know this sounds wierd but on my travels to gyms around the world (see my user name!) these two things can be a pain if you want to lock your stuff away or want a shower (towels often are chargeable)

     Have a fab trip!Smile

I would also ask the hotel concierge service to see if they have better luck locating a closer class.  That is what they are there for!!

    Good luck!

Don't regret doing anything that made you smile!!

Lucky you ... buy yourself a A-Z of London book or similar (really useful street map of central London) and mark the clubs up before leaving ... there are quite a few in the "W1" area. There are heaps of clubs in the UK - as you've seen on the site. Have fun in my home country - now live in Germany and have done for the last 15 yrs, so am not up to date with how the clubs are in London.

I'm sure there is something similar for the other locations. That always works best for me - the prep prior to travelling.

    Have fun!!!!

Yes, do your research using this site and any online maps (or a London A-Z as has just been suggested).  I did classes in Amsterdam and Spain last year, and will be going to another part of Spain this month and trying out their BC/BP classes.  It's such a great experience doing them in another country, as the language of LM is universal.  Just fantastic.  Have a great trip.  If you were coming ALOT further north in the UK, I'd get you into mine as a guest, but hey....  ENJOY!Cool

Thanks for the advice everyone!  I will do my research.  It'll be fun to take and class for once and not have to teach!  Not that I don't LOVE to teach!  :)

In Central London, there are also a lot of LA Fitness branches which do Pump - the branches at Bayswater and Marylebone aren't too far from your hotel (Bayswater could be a lovely walk/run along Hyde Park).   And on their website, you can usually sign up for a free one or three day pass which might be useful.  I think their drop in rates for classes are about £12. Some gyms do a special pass for 4 or 5 visits during a period for about £30 or so which might be another option.

It would be great if there were more 'roaming' gyms like there are with cell phones - it would be so good if big chains partnered with each other to make it easier to exercise abroad.
