    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

Finally got to see this release today.  Love the innovations and the music.  I am so looking forward to learning it and teaching it.  First, I will have to do some flow/balance to get the hips moving!

    I'm in love!!!!!!

I love, love, love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I usually don't start learning a release until about 3 weeks out, but I like this one so much, i am starting early.  Love the tequilla song and the run dmc song!!   67 was my favorite, but I think it just got the boot!

    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

love that BodyStep is trying to return or turn to an athletic based cardio workout with the last few releases.

up until recent releases, there has really only been 2 or 3 tracks that were a challenge cardio wise in all honesty.

love the new moves fresh ideas ...BUT what is up with the weird gear that they are wearing these last few releases?

Why is it that the programs have to wear some of the strangest outfits that really have no connection with what the typical instructor is gonna wear out in the local club? I still don't get it why lesmills insist on outfitting their master instructors different from what the merchandise they offer on the websites to local instructors?  That creates a big disconnect between what is presented on the master class DVD and the local instructors.

I agree with you Russ . . . I think that the company is missing out on a golden marketing opportunity by not outfitting the master instructors in clothes that in turn can be sold to instructors world-wide.

    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

Just got 71 here in Dallas so I'll save most comments til later.  However, I agree with you on the clothes.  Sorry but these are great programs that get you in fantastic physical condition and that is the image I want to portray to my participants.  The clothes they are wearing in the video do not do justice to their physical stature.  It actually takes away from it.

Secondly, I did read a little of the booklet while listening to the music in the car (I was parked!).  They are focusing on connecting with the music.  It was interesting to see the video where in track 6, Mark said something about connecting with the music and then was silent.  Unfortunately, that was after 70 other releases and 5 tracks of this one where the presenters talked through the whole track.  Lol.  Mark, Lisa and the crew do a great job with BodyStep.  As a pump instructor I wish I could see some of their creativity there.

    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

Re clothing. We're not suggesting that you show up to teach your 6am class in an elvis suit and afro wig. Just giving you guys ideas on how you can spice up your launch classes to match the theme of the release. Some people actually work out in street clothes (myself included). If we didn't ever evolve (clothing included) we'd still be in leg warmers and fluro thongs. If you can't pull off the look... no problem, wear what works for you.

Step in general gets a bad rap for being old fashioned. A few of us at Les Mills have been experimenting with clothing in our classes over the last few months, and have noticed younger hip people starting to join in. Could the modern way we dressed have been a factor in getting some of them to even try Bodystep??? Possibly??? Could a baggy T Shirt on the teacher encourage image conscious people to try the class??

    Possibly...

    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

Elvis suit and fro!  Oh if only I could!  When I first started listening to the release, I totally got a great hip hop vibe from some of the tracks and thought it would be tons of fun to dress the part for launch.

Then sadly my club decided they didn't have the budget for launching and told us to go ahead and teach "whenever" and while I find it fun to dress for special occasions, it's tough to make a solo launch a special occasion.  Meh.  I won't buy anything special to wear, but I will comb through my closet ...or my teenagers closets...in the hopes I can find something appropriately funky.

Also, I'm really glad the store doesn't update often and sell the clothes our Rockstars are wearing.  If they did, I'd end up spending more than I make and I'm pretty close to that already.  Embarrassed

    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

I really like the outfits that the presenters have been wearing recently (although I must admit being a little confused at the boots on the BS 71 DVD).

But I really like the tops, in particular the chicks have been wearing, not so tight (and doesn't make you feel bad for not looking as good as that hehe! They still look stylish and I think they are still flattering (and if it's a little big, do like Kirsty did and tie a knot in one side). We actually went with a similar look in tops for our launchs, was a nice change for the program.

Speaking of BS 71, since this is what the topic is about hehe, we're into out third week here and it's still tough for everyone, physically! Great challenges, the program just keeps getting better!

    Re: WOW! BODYSTEP 71!!!

I have been teaching bodystep 71 (in Australia) now for a couple of weeks and yes I love it but my participants haven't been as enthusiastic as me eg 'running woman gets boring' 'too much dancey stuff' knee work in athletic is ame as every other time." so I guess there is a mix of views out there.
