    Re: Combat Footwear.

I’m going to be another one supporting the idea of Nike Free.

Decided I need a 2nd pair of trainers. After seeing all the people on here saying good things about Nike Free, thought would try a pair.

Got Nike Free Trainer 7.0. Very light, great for kicks, nearly like being barefoot. Only down side is they are a little gripy on carpet (should be fine once get a little wear though…).

Like a couple of people have said, needs to be a shoe that works for you… I like Combat in barefeet, but found to hard on my feet, these are a close, while still having a little support…

Once woren these in, am keen to try the 5.0 version…

Do any here have experionse with asics GT-2120?

I have a pair of these, but they are running shoes. They have been excellent for running, best thing I did was to buy a pair specifically for running. i don't think they would have enough stability for combat though. But a most excellent running shoeBig Smile

I heard that the update to the Nike Free is not bad--- Zoom, I think it's called?  It's the same structure except they added an air pocket or something.  I haven't tried them-- I am in the middle of buying up all the Nike Free's that I can find on Ebay.

Whenever I've worn running shoes for Combat, I've ended up nearly breaking my ankle because they don't have a flat enough base - they're made for forward movement and so the base of the shoe is narrow. You come down from a jump and hit the edge - eek! Definitely need a specific training shoe.

    Re: Combat Footwear.

PS. On the US Nike site, they have Nike Free Trainer 7.0.3 listed - I think they are the new ones, I haven't seen them before. The shoe I was looking at was STYLE# 318665 COLOR# 001. I'll post a link but I doubt it will get through.

So, a women shoes don´t work so good beacuse I´m a guy :-)

Other options? Ebay is not the best thing if you are going to pay Fed-Ex as much as the shoe beacuse you live in Sweden.

    Re: Combat Footwear.

I wouldn't recommend using any running shoe for combat.  Running shoes are designed to move forward.  They are not designed to go side to side.

Normally I would recommend using cross trainers, but currently I'm using basketball ball shoes.  The facility I work out has a basketball court too.  So typically, I shoot hoops before and/or after combat.  I switch between the Nike Huarache 2K4 and Huarache 64.  Both shoes are light weight and feel great.  The 64s provide awesome ankle support.

BTW, I've thought about buying these 2K4s just for combat: http://cgi.ebay.com/NIKE-AIR-MAX-HUARACHE-2K4-SHOES-NEW-MENS-SZ-12_W0QQitemZ380073804615QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380073804615&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1417%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

What do you think of them?

Sorry to go off topic, but as far as running shoes don't use shoxs or air maxes.  I would highly recommend anything in the nike bowerman series.

    Re: Combat Footwear.

For me it has got to be Shox.Have worn them for years and have tried a few other styles but was not a big fan so i resorted back to Shox. What i have noticed is that loads of people have started to wear Nike Rifts.I myself have never been a big fan of these but was wondering if anyone here has any experience in them and whether they were comfortable or not?

    Re: Combat Footwear.

hey scott - looks like you got the free 7.0 but these are no longer available in the UK and US. Did you try out the free 5.0's in the end? ... how did it feel? ....
