NIKE should sponsor Body Combat 'cos I've just ran out and got myself a pair of Nike Free 5.0 (v2) Stick out tongue They don't come in my favourite colours, but I now understand what the fuss is all about ... they're unlike any other trainers I've bought in the past ... much more flexible, light and comfortable. Looking forward to the Muay Thai tracks Wink

    Re: Combat Footwear.

I have 2 pairs of Shox cross trainers, I rarely wear these now since I got my Nike Free's

Have 2 pairs of Free 5.0's, and the ones I wear most often - 2 pairs of Free 7.0's.

The 7.0's for me, are in a league of their own.

I use New Balance in the UK. Shox are okay but it's hard to get cross trainers. I have wide feet and Nike Free are just too narrow.
Never criticise someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. That way when you do, you´re a mile away and you have their shoes.

    Hi,

Most important, I think, is what surface you will be using them on.  Wood aerobic floor = lots of options, but carpeted stage, or OMG! indoor tennis courts or rubber tiles, you need pivot circles and high tops for ankle support.

It used to be my shoes would self destruct after about 3 months but now they seem to be making them better, so looks are deceiving.  I put in new inserts/insoles at about 3 months and toss 'em after 6 months at most.  I do a lot of rope skipping, cardio kickboxing, and circuit training.  With old shoes the whole bottoms of my feet get sore, to say nothing of achille's and calf soreness.

New insoles for about $20US can save you a lot of money if they extend the life of $90US shoes for an extra 3 months.

Blisters could be more a matter of socks than shoes.  Try a pair of thin nylon dress socks under your gym socks.  The gym socks slide on the dress socks instead of your skin.  We used to actually step in a glue box before putting on our socks to keep them from sliding/rubbing during sports practice.  It was called "Cramer Tuf-Skin" instead of "Glue", but it sure put an end to blisters.  Same principle either way.

I can't remember ever wearing the tread off a pair of cross trainers, but the cushioning is shot after about three months.  I put in new inserts and then toss 'em at six months.

I have to question the lateral stability of Shox. I really like New Balance 584 cross trainers, but then I may have to do more laterals and need more stability.  Come to think of it, why isn't BodyAttack the toughest program on shoes.

    Re: Combat Footwear.

Thanks for that Rex, I will definitely use the socks tip next week! Big Smile Treads definitely gone, especially where the balls of my feet sit in my shoes (does that make sense? maybe the balls of my shoes is a better way of putting it?!) The glue sounds nasty... did it hurt to get off?

nawh, but it was disgusting to look at when you took your socks off since it was orange in color and lint from your socks would stick in it and it wouldn't wash off easily.

If the thin/thick sock works, then do a Google for WrightSock which are double layer socks guaranteed blister free.

    Re: Combat Footwear.

Looks like lots of votes for the Nike Free's here and they look cool.

Would they be suitable for Attack as well? I only do that once or twice a week in addtion to Combat and Pump.

I've got Shox and am reasonably happy with them.  But definately need a new pair of trainers and off to France next week and hoping prices are cheaper than the UK.
