    Scripting for BS72

I thought we might be able to put in a team effort here and pool together some ideas for a 'car' theme in BS72! I know its still launching in countries, but if we get our heads together I think we can come up with some awesome stuff, in time for launches!

This is what I've come up with:

Warm up lap - lubricate your engine

    Racing for poll position

Time for a pit stop - change your tires but not your brakes

    Press the nitro button

    Time for ignition

Dont let the cops catch you

    Floor it in third gear

    On the straight

Hug your corners in the Chicane (t-step)

    Grip your steering wheel

    Racing for Pink slips

Control in the hairpins (Track 6)

Use your shock suspension to protect your joints (follow up)

What in Sam's H are you talking about?  Are the instructors (and ultimately participants) supposed to understand you?  Les Mills programs should come back down to earth and get back to the basics - we've seen to many quitters at the gyms lately because they don't go for the fancy dance tracks and music, and they have told us so!!

    Re: Scripting for BS72

A lot of people like imagery to help them work harder - it helps the entire class connect with the music, which is a main focus of the Les Mills choreography.  People are motivated by different things - music, the team environment, the physical discomfort of working hard - and we as instructors have to touch all of them. Many people are motivated by music - that's why you see so many people at the gym or runners with ipods! Personally, I love BodyStep because of its athletic power moves - and it sounds like some people at your gym feel the same - so emphasize what you know your participants want, but don't just throw other motivators out the window - eventually you may need to reach inside your bag of tricks to keep the participants (and yourself) going strong!

    Hi Schelli,

I see what you are trying to do.... just infusing some race car imagery into the class.  I like it.  Variety is the spice of life.

    Re: Scripting for BS72

Okay, In my initial post I didn't say too much because I didn't want to give too much away from the new release (BS72), for those countries that have not launched it yet, but some of the spoiler on lesmills.com has this:

"Calling all you boy and girl racers, all mamas and those of you who like to be footloose and fancy-free – BODYSTEP™ 72 is a release for you!
There are three themes in this release. Fast cars are the third theme, with references to cars or driving in Tracks 4 – Crash, 6 – Shut Up & Drive and 10 – Flirt. You’ll hear car doors slamming, tires screeching and engines revving throughout the class."

Now, I dont believe in cryptic coaching or cues, but I think connecting with the lyrics is an important part of motivational cuing - you cant just yell out "go go go!" everytime you go ATT for every release. I thought together we could play on the theme of the relase and build a network of awesome FOLLOW UP cues. This post is geared at instructors, not participants.

Hope this clears up any questions that have arisen from my first post. Schelli

Love those ideas! I don't have 72 yet. Give us some feedback! Good release? Which tracks have the dance moves...I hear there are a lot of them! I assume Party Step but what else? My order was shipped yesterday and I CAN'T WAIT! Indifferent

Just off the top of my head: Dance moves in Track 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 11. Lots of fun in this, and (except for track 8: they are keeping with the 'training your mind' theme of current releases) they are fun, simple athletic moves with motivating music.

I loved this release because I whipped out the sewing machine and bought some flags and made a costume - you'll see what I mean when you get the new release! I love your excitment! Enjoy enjoy enjoy!!

Whadup Nic??  I second the whole variety is the spice in life!!

To the original poster... I do like some of the things you came up with, I might steal them lol. if you do a car theme, perhaps you could wear like race car jerseys, you know like they wear in car races?  Not sure how that would work for step though.... still want to keep it athletic!!!  We are doing a flirty theme, think the skirt that Sarah Robinson wore in the DVD...lots of refrencing to either Mama's or dancing, and then track 10 Flirt???? YEAH BUDDY!!!  I'm Liftin' Up My Skirt!!! okay not really.....  I just got back from a Quarterly, I cant help it....  someone stop me...

    Have fun at your launches!!!!!

    Re: Scripting for BS72

I am a girl.  Driving fast cars don't excite me and lookin' like my Mamma sure as heck doesn't pump me up.

However, I like this release.  The party I take them to in 8 is a volleyball party.  We are blocking the ball from coming over the net on the singles.  I tell them in 4.  I know you are use to kicking it up a notch and I want you to, but in 5 you will ... so keep that energy.    I use the music to set the mood .... this release is easy and a little too boring 1-4, but 5 on I really love the release.  But 8 we are at a Volleyball party. Block that ball!
