Re: VOTE!! Best Shoes for BodyJam

My vote is also for  nike shox :). Right now I am wearing the shox electro dance shoe and I love them. They have great support, good cushioning to reduce impact (great for me, since I have bad knees and have been through lots of injuries) and pivot points for spins and they have cute styles/colors too! I rarely see them in stores (just on the website), but unfortunately I have to buy all my sneakers online anyway, since I have small feet.

The prices can be high, but they do go on sale often, so sometimes you can catch a good deal. Otherwise, they run from about 105-140. For me, they have been totally worth the investment! I am on my third pair.

Oh and I wish I had those boots everyone is talking about!!! Those are soooooo hot, but since I am just a participant, I don't really think I can justify buying them...but, if was teaching...I would absolutely just have to add those to my collection :).

Will the male Body Jam instructors - please stand up?!  And while you're at it...please tell me what shoes you wear to teach Jam?  I'd love to know since Nike doesn't make a male version of their popular Shox dance line.

Any Suggestions for what's best suited for male Jammers?  Cool

I am not a big fan of dance shox.  I bought one pair when we were on release 41 and I got terrible shin splints after using them just a few times.  I really like nike airmax, though.  I had a pair of black mids with an air pocket in the forefoot (they were designed for dance with the pivot point and all) that I used all the way through release 42 with "the bounce", and they were great.

Nike Shox Ballo, all the way!  My jam trainer recommended them at training, they have great grip, are light, and have a pivot point so you can turn quite easily.  I wear them everytime I teach Jam EXCEPT when I'm doing a house routine (like now) in which case I prefer my Sketchers.  They have a heavy toe and can withstand all that tappity tap stuff we're doing.

thanks so much, these were the ticket for me!!!  The shox hurt my feet but I absolutely love these.  Plus, such a great deal as they are only around $50, and the shox are soo much more!!  I will be wearing them in my first day of bodyjam training, thanks again!

I use Vans... or New Balance...depends on the amount of bouncing in the release!

The BodyJam 42 release!?!? All the bouncing "lean to the outside" OMG! I just went right out and got me some cushion insoles! I had to! Now I place them in all my shoes!

Now I just use the inserts for whatever style shoe I get. It helped my feet and arches.

Thanks to all the men on here for suggesting shoes for guys who teach Jam!

I teach a lot of freestyle dance classes (latin, streetdance, broadway etc...) but all the house stuff in Jam is quite new to me... BUT I LOVE IT!!!

Used to teach Jam years ago before G changed the format, haven't taught it since release 31!!! But I love the direction Jam has gone and am doing my module training at the start of August, so I'm gonna go out and do some shoe shopping!!!

I have big flat feet and I have enjoyed my Shox for Jam.  I can't remember the name of the specific style, but they were specifically marketed for studio (indoor) use.

I love to wear Bloch split sole dance sneakers, I find these much easier to spin and turn in compared to my trainers and there nice and cushioned like a trainer but the split sole allows more flexability in the feet.

The closest to dancing shoes we get are Nike Air Force 1's. They're really basketball shoes but some have pivot points.

Anyway I don't wear them because they are not very flexible for other programs. So I'm wearing cross trainers. I used to wear Nike Air Edge L7 and now I switched to Nike Reax II Trainers. I still prefer the Air Edge though. Look for it!

Re: VOTE!! Best Shoes for BodyJam

For Body Jam, I wear a shoe with a good spring, good cushion, flat slippery sole, curvy on the front and back for easy heel toes.  I use Nike Cortez Nylon and Adidas Superstar II.  These are the main shoes to get for cwalking, which I'm into.  I've heard a lot of people use Nike Dunks too.

I sometimes wear skate shoes (I got some eS and DC), but they're only really good for hard hitting jumpstyle/dnb music.

I wouldn't wear running shoes like Shox because they have too much grip, poor stability, poor heel toe, and not flat on the bottom.  Theyre basically designed to go in 1 direction, while a dance shoe has to go in all directions.
