    Re: Body Pump 70

    Larry_T:

BP38 had CHEST PULLOVERS (yep you heard me right) at the beginning.

How were these cued? Plates or bar?

    Larry_T:

My classes are not liking the 3/4 squat in BP69 after the numerous bottom-halves for each leg.  We are only releasing it this week and so far I've only seen a total of 4 or 5 participants who can last out the whole thing. Maybe once the releases are done after the 3 week period paticipants might be able to handle them.... I guess this is a good sign that it's something new for them to make them stronger.

This is definitely one of those lunge track that requires backing off from normal weight. Like all new tricks it seems to get easier with repetition. Managed to go back up last night (but still not up to usual weight yet).

    Re: Body Pump 70

for those who want to know about the bp70 chest track... there is no "big innovation" imo. It's regulation stuff, except for tricky timing and duration of the track is a little shorter. Choreo recommends putting your weights up. I added extra 2.5 plates to my 10kg plates and I got through just fine. I think I will tray extra 5kg plates instead next time and see what happens. i think i already know what will happen, but worth a shot :)

As for the timing, I am looking at my choreo now and there are only 16 lines on the page. That's it.

    The reps in one block are 3x, 10x, 1x 15x. The counts are 7.5x8, 5x8, 2.5x8, 7.5x8.

If I looked just at the choreo I would be thining omg, that looks hard to cue, but... with the music, it fits. It's a "feel it" track to teach rather than a "count it" track.

    I like it.

The abs track uses a few things we haven't seen before. I reckon biceps is the highlight of the release just for the great music.

By the way, I think smiley plates are needed for flyes in pump otherwise I just can't hold a plate that is big enough to get the workout. On the other hand, I don't mind using triceps weight for pull overs, but not bench press weights for that move - it's asking for trouble. When I have seen the madonna track from 38 used, the pull overs were replaced with presses rather than sit up and addmore weight after the pull overs.

I heard some of the music the other day.

Guess what? Pink and Etype.................... Tongue Tied Sigh.. I'm over both of them. Really over them.

Great new sound for the chest track though..

Lets see how the chore fits the music.

Nooo! I'm so tired of Etype! :( And pink's really good but it feels like every release has one of her songs on it... oh well, I bet they've got a kick-ass choreography to them! :)

Not sure of the case where you are, but here in OZ you CAN'T but the DVDs until you've done your workshop as they are an instructor only resource. Sorry!

But if you chat to your fave instructor???

    Re: Body Pump 70

    Guys

The theme is timing and as many of you will know, most of the class participants have small pauses at the top and bottem of the reps, this allows them a small recovery, to lift heavier weights, but they are NOT doing the exercise correctly, there's not ment to be any unscheduled recoveries in BODYPUMP.

Smooth and seamless, no pauses it's what this realease is trying to premote.

I know Mr Timothy mentioned the chest track has nothing new, I beg to differ.

There are NO 2/2 or 3/1 in the chest track this time round it's all 1's and 4's

The big trick with this chest track is that at the top of the 4/4's you stop about 7/8's from the top, elbows bent, muscles loaded and hold for a 2 count, before coming slowly down.

It's about keeping the muscles loaded and working

    It's really tuff.

The lung track will absolutely smash you, and forget what they tell you about going heavier, you do this properly and it's murder.

The tricep track is a killer as well, your arms will be shaking at the end of it no problems.

Finally the abs track is harder, after you give these a real workout, you finish with the rotator planks, its a killer

I recon it's the hardest one I've done for a while.

    regards

    S&F

Don't you always keep elbows bent at the top anyway?

I think that pause makes it easier and was put in to match the music more than anything else. If I had to pause at the bottom I might feel differently.
