    Body Jam 50

Just did the new release of BJ 50 last night and once again, its ***!!!!  I have been doing BJ for 2 years now and I seems to noticed that the current releases were getting worse and worse....esp. the MUSIC. The only good music from BJ50 is the cool down with Jennifer Hudson's Spotlight. From the warm up all the way to the house blocks, every single music were uninspired and lack umph!!! The latin track was good but too repetitive. Why bother using Sneaky Sound System's 3 years old song in the house block?

When will Gandalf stop using elctrohouse music? I am soooo sick of this electro-crap music that his using. Come on bring on some good house vocal music!!!

Here I am hoping that BJ51 will be a good one.

    Re: Body Jam 50

I had the same thoughts too! "Saturday" made me wish it was Sunday already. Cardiofunk music made me physically cringe. And the Tribal Hse music kinda flew over my head without making an impact.

But I listened to it a few more times and I began to like it!

Mambo Extravaganza is so simple even the weakest member can feel the fitness magic when they Mambo everywhere! And it's partly because of the repetitive latin music that sets a solid base for them to be confident.

I'm beginning to enjoy the funk in Cardiofunk (barely!) but I'm most impressed with the House music. I began to appreciate the melodic and lyrical layers in them, which is a breath of fresh air after the head banging "Hi, Friend" and "Burning' Up 2008" for the past 2 releases.

I think if you give it some time you'll find the music ain't *that* bad. Just takes some effort to appreciate!

LOL Head Banging "Hi Friend?"   Did you do release 45?  That was head bangin'!

    Re: Body Jam 50

Aw, I haven't taught 50 yet because we launch in October, but I've been enjoying the music and the moves.  Mambo does seem a little simple - more Zumba-like(?) but the 90's style Cardiofunk Shabam Shabam is so much fun, and I can't wait to add the fun extra "magic" moves.  I think the second half's music is hypnotizing, especially Suburban NIghts, and even though I worry about the propriety of "Blame It," I think it is fun and I love the moves.

I plan to sell this one like I always try to.  But I do agree about electro/house and I've asked in the past for a break, but my guess is G uses it to keep with the Club feel.

hehe khamjo, I trained on 45. I'm still having recurring nightmares of Cont. Rock. But 45 was head bangin' in a good way! "Hi Friend" was head bangin' in a "makes me reach for the aspirin" kind of way.

    Re: Body Jam 50

LOL zemien I agree with you! I hated the 48 House block with a fiery passion.

I just got 50 and tried it for the first time. I want to try it a few more times before I start worrying about how to sell it, but it's pretty enjoyable. So far Cardiofunk is my least favourite but mainly because I was never a big fan of that bouncy, kicky footwork style the first time around. I'm not sure that block will go down well with my crowd but perhaps the nostalgia factor will help.

Calle Ocho is a popular enough song that I think 3 versions of it for the Latin block will be fun to play with. Nice choreography, too.

I wasn't sure I would like the Tribal House block when it started. I was doing the Advanced version so when the floor section kicked in I really woke up! The music didn't make any impression on me until "Finally". This seems to be another one of those releases where most of the music is like " eh???"

I think my favourite track is the Recovery. It's smooth and stylin' choreography. Now that's how you do a one-off track!

I'm going to go around saying " I'd like to apologise for my love of 90s Diva Remixes". LOL!

    Re: Body Jam 50

Did this today for the first time at the quarterly workshop and really enjoyed it. Had a great instructor (Phil H.) and a great crowd well up for it so we had a party! :)

I've not done BodyJam for all that long however, whilst very bouncy throughout there were was some nice dancy bits in it. Definitely a good cardio workout. Apparently we only did two of the plus options which was surprising as it seemed quite technical for newbies. I'm curious to see what + holds in store. I do think some of the older crowd might find it a bit hip hop/house for them but we shall see.

Favourite section is the tribal (funk/house?) block at the end. Nice big moves with lots of power and attitude! With close second in the JT/Ciara isolations which is nice and drama :D

All I need now is a regular Jam class!!! I just can't persuade the gyms in my area to get the licence (and I have tried)...

I just got my BJ50 DVD in the mail last week and watched it for the first time this weekend. I haven't been so excited about a release from first sight in a long time (45 got me riled up; before that it was 36). I think this one looks incredible. I am so so so pumped for Cardiofunk Shabam Shabam. Can't wait to unleash this one on my peeps in a few weeks.

The words you are looking for are Tribular House Extravaganza Wink Funnily enough, that block initially was my LEAST favourite in the release; loved the JT and Ciara isolations and while Cardio Funk was fun, my ankles hated me for it, though the tribal house really has grown on me.  I'm absolutely shattered after every time we do it - that last move in particular when you go from the house tap to the tribal knee works my torso so incredible hard; by the end I feel like I'm going to puke!

Or as Rach puts it (on the dvd): tribular house extrava-"gangsta" Stick out tongue

I just launched this release 2 days ago and it's great!! we teamteached (with someone you know Mmmarshmallow: Lashandra) and I got to do the house-block. It's absolutely devastating...in a good way! Launched BC 41 as well and was soooo tired I almost fell asleep on the couch at 6 pm...

Ahhhh!!  I bet you must've had a blast Big Smile  Gandalf loved having Lashandra, Rose and The Netherlands People around here; I remember Gandalf saying to Lashandra that she's going to be 'the star of BJ51' with how well she did the choreography.  It was awesome being in the front row with her, and hopefully at some point you can make your way down here so you can join us, hey Lisardo Wink  (though I'm planning on coming up to The Netherlands, so I'll be Jamming your way at some point!)

Last night Carla and Ginny revisited some old stuff from BJ38 and followed it up with the house block from BJ50 - what I found REALLY interesting was how choreographically involved the older stuff was, but it didn't completely devastate me (stealing your word Lisardo because it's so true) like BJ50 was - hmmmm!  I had a pretty good sleep myself after that (though I had done 2xRPM before it! Big Smile)

I look forward to seeing you here then!! And you can count on me making a return visit, specially after the stories Rose and Lashandra told me about their trip...

    Re: Body Jam 50

Really guys ; I'm quite tired of reading your bad comments on the release. Ok everybody has the right to express their points of view. But you can't forget that for other people the release could have been great.

I love Body Jam 50. I've done it twice and I really enjoyed it. The music is great. I like the house music at the end,  it gives us more energy at that point of the workout and you get it from the beats before you think you may faint.

Of course I have my favourite sequences: the latin sequence with great Brazilian music and Pitbull and the last three blocks. You can't compare it to zumba. Zumba is an easy workout to follow and I sometimes do it just like a warm out. No comparison at all.

The track I like the least is the cooling down... maybe because I dislike the song chosen but it is just a short moment that helps you relax before you go to the shower. Another sequence I don't like much is the hip hop. I find it quite boring this time, just like the hip hop of BJ 47, but I like to think that maybe other people like it and I do it because I want to exercise. Don't forget that BJ has something to offer for all tastes.Big Smile
