    Interactive Track

Our BV classes are doing well at our club and my classes have been expanding every week.  The fitness levels in my classes are so broad so I make sure I offer every possible option available at least twice for every track.  I always stress how it is ok to take the lower options especially when I see someone struggling to keep up.

Due to the advanced fitness level of some folks in my class, when I am teaching the interactive track and we are power walking, I tell them that if they feel they need more that they can do a light jog, but I personally never jog because I don't want to make the other participants feel their level isn't good enough.

Is this acceptable to offer this option to the participants if I continue to stay at the lower level and continue to offer even lower options?  Thoughts?

    Re: Interactive Track

I was of the opinion that if a class had jumping, jogging etc then it could not be offered as "low impact".(Hence, the powerwalk in Vive should never be accelarated to a run) I may be off base here, so the court is open to anyone else who knows for sure...

I don't think jogging should be an option.  If they want to work harder, have them pump the arms more and really drive off the heel.  Getting low (maintaining good posture) will also speed up the heart rate.

    Just my opinion though...

In the UK at our QW's it is drummed in that to intensify the power walk you lengthen your stride and "drive" off of your back leg, i.e. push you self forward harder, this helps you increase speed without the need to break into a jog.

      Hope that helps

Man, my 1st post is still being moderated?!?! what's up with that?

I agree about driving off the back leg as well as lengthening the stride

But we were told (from release 8, I think) not to get low into the power walk - I think due to stress on knee joint?

    Re: Interactive Track

Yep, probably best not to offer the jog-if someone hurt themselves then imagine the whole minefield of problems that could arise regarding correct choreography, "safeness" of the exercise etc.I know you're only trying to cater well for your participants but you've gotta protect yourself as well. A bit dramatic you may say, but I've seen it happen! I think track four has been a bit of a problem for all of us...

BTW- Love to know what happened to your disappearing post, Paul. Seems like it fell in to a black hole!
