What is RPM about for you?

Hi all. I ask this question of instructors and participants alike.

What is RPM about for you? For example: is it the music or the coaching, the group dynamic or the ride itself?

I interested to read of your 1 main focus, enjoyment, reason for etc.

I know what my main focus is and I will share later: )

For me, RPM has been an evolution of many things. It started as a curiosity, moved onto an addiction and is now a passion. The combination of music, a motivating instructor and a room packed full of RPM enthusiasts who all have their butts on saddles waiting to be taken to another place that exists only in the minds of those who dare to imagine it. They sit there anticipating peaks and awaiting the inner peace you find only in Track 6 where really, not a hell of a lot need be said - that is saved for Track 7 where the breathlessness is a final reminder of why we do what we do when we walk into the cycle studio. I live and breathe RPM and can't imagine a better way to turn yourself inside out for the hell of it.

RPM for me means not just enduring high intensity workout, but really motivating yourself to go hard when the peak tracks are reached. What else....allowing yourself to be noisy (like i have over this year :D) and exciting myself when the peak tracks are reached. If an instructor tells me to 'go, go'... then i do it!

I guess overall its excitement of the peak tracks :)

The energy from the class does it for me.

Knowing that I can motivate them, and in turn, they motivate me. Knowing that after track 7, I can hear the sounds of gasping for air, moans & groans, and get a "Thank You" from those same people as they leave. Knowing that they come week after week because I can give them something they can't always get elsewhere, and I get an apology when they miss a class. Knowing that I play a part in their path to fitness and get to see the joy in their faces when they succeed. And knowing that even when they are pushed to their limits, they refuse to quit and realize they didn't really reach their limits.

    It's all about my participants.

     RPM... the final frontier.

These are the voyages of the starship Les Mills. It's continuing mission... to seek out new riders and new instructors.

To boldly go where no spin class has gone before.

I usually start my class off with a Joke, they always suck

I encourage my class to yell and scream and encourage/talk smack to whoever is next to them

I tell my class that we are there to have a fun time and before we know it, we have had an awesome workout

I pass out papers sometimes so my class can vote on the songs for the next week

RPM for me, is all about my Participants

For me RPM is all about the Ride!

Riding with others. Riding the terrain. Riding to good music. Riding at intensity. Riding with a purpose. Riding for fun. Riding to showcase. Riding to inspire. Riding to lead. Riding to get fit. Riding for the challenge. Riding to find myself. Riding to help others loose themselves. Riding in the zone. Riding on the beat. Riding with room to move. Riding on the edge. Riding to a new place. Riding like we did last class. Riding it like we stole it. Sharing the Ride.

     Pretty easy really.

it started as a curiosity for me too... and has become an addiction... i live for the feeling of absolute ECSTACY at the end when you wobble off your bike, and feel completely smashed but also have so much goodness running around in your system that you almost feel like crying... LOVE IT!

"This is my body and I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it, study it, tweak it, listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on... What am I on!?! I'm on my bike, busting my ass 6 hours a day. What are you on???"
