Can't decipher the awful squealing lyrics.  Who listens to these artists?  Children?

    Re: Body Step 78

haha! Most of the world listens to these artists. They didn't stop making music in the 1970's - It's still being made today (believe it or not)! Most of the songs previously listed are pop (abbreviation for popular) and top 40 hits!

BodyStep 77 is one of my favorite (top 3) releases in the past 5 years. Incredibly athletic, powerful, energetic, and uplifting. There is so many opportunities for propulsion and power and also for strength in the squats. Beautiful mix of highs and lows, athleticism and flava, with contrasting and amazing music that matches perfectly to the moves. Power up!

I understand instructors can get fed up if they don't like the music in a release, since they have to listen to it over and over again, learning the choreography.

But if participants have time/energy to bother with lyrics, they aren't working hard enough, in my opoinion. Wink

Hmm, I think I may have posted almost the exact same words a while back... the topipc keeps returning to this forum.

If you can't hear the INSTRUCTIONS over the ear-splitting awful pop music, then you can't do the moves.  Participants complain CONSTANTLY about the extremely loud deafening music, and the instructors WON'T turn it down.  Ear plugs are used by many and participation constantly drops.

    Re: Body Step 78

There has been a thread about loud music recently. If instructors won't respect the majority of participants regarding the volume, they are making a big mistake imo. What is their reason for not turning down the volume? Just curious.

    Re: Body Step 78

As the bumper sticker says "If it's too loud, you're told old". Just kidding. Getting back to the subject...

Did BS 78 today and it rocked. Mark was in Brisvegas and he brought the house down. Some new moves, not as complex as some recent releases, so participants should be fine with these.

On the subject of music, yes a lot of it is from the US but in Oz, and I'm sure in NZ, that's our staple diet of pop music. Wouldn't mind hearing maybe one track a release from other parts of the world.

You know, entire songs entirely in another language (so no, the Macarena does not count)...we need to expand our cultural horizons a little and live the 'one world, one tribe' motto a little more.

    Let's celebrate cultural diversity!

I instructed Bodystep 78 to my class for the first time last night.  My participants are a bit on the conservative side - but would have to say they left the class with smiles on their faces.  This is an excellent release.

    Re: Body Step 78

I'm helping out with the 78 launch at two gyms. At my gym we're doing a Movember theme.

For those outside of Oz, Movember is a fund raiser and awareness campaign for prostate cancer where guys are encouraged to grow a moustache for the month of November to show their support and solidarity for those effected by prostate cancer.

So our members will come to class with their mo and donate a gold coin...all for a good cause.

    Re: Body Step 78

    Peanutbutterlover,

I am curious- are you an instructor? I am wondering because you have NOTHING good to say about Bodystep. If you are an instructor, you might want to ask yourself "why am I teaching this?". If you are not and are a disgruntled participant, why are you taking the class?

As an instructor, I will always find positives and negatives with each new release, but usually more positive than negative. If your participants are tiring of the music, are you/the instructors teaching the same release or songs over and over? Yes, that would be boring and I would get tired of that too. As far as the volume of the music goes, if it is too low, the instructor won't be able to cue. If their cueing can't be heard, the mic volume needs to be adjusted. I have learned over the years that you can't please everyone. I have a lady who takes my class who wears ear plugs, and when she doesn't, she sings VERY LOUDLY with the music in a sarcastic way. It used ot bother me and I would try to adjust for her. She and I talked one day and she LOVES LOVES LOVES Bodystep, but she is older and doesn't care for every single song. So what. I quit catering to her and she still comes to class faithfully. It obviously doesn't bother her that much. I commend Mark, Lisa, and everyone else at LM who have to put these releases together. I would take the criticsm way to personally. They are awesome, not only for being an inspiriation, but for having AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT JOB!!!!

Now if you are a participant complaining here, I urge you to try other Step formats. You will find not ONE compares to Bodystep- athletically, musically, etc....
