I think you'll be alright showing the burpee and then going back into lower options. Just remember that the range of motion is slightly reduced- the notes do a great job of showing what it should look like versus what it shouldn't. Just be mindful- if it bothers your back, have another instructor demo it beforehand or see if one of your seasoned participants would like to be up there for that track to show the full option.

Track 11 isn't too bad, although I think the participants thought I was making up the choreography as we got into it. It's a little different for a conditioning track. Your options for that one are modified push-ups on your knees and ensuring that your knees stay soft when you step in, rise, and come back down.

    Good luck to you!!! Smile

Music is awful as usual for the past 4-5 releases.  Instructors and members can't stand it.  Lost many participants with each successive release since #68.

I can understand instructors get a bit fed up if they don't like the music, since they have to listen so much to it while learning the release.

But I think participants who quit just because of the music aren't working hard enough. Push yourself - and you won't notice the song, only the beat. My opinion. (I'm a participant)

    Re: Body Step 77

This release isn't a fave of mine.

Choreography:  The Swinger and Half Burpie are okay with me and the cross over step in Party Step.   But the way some of the moves are sequenced is odd and not natural to the body.  The Jump Squat, Basic and Skater in the Mixed Strength track is an example. Yeah, the more you do them the more natural they become but when moves are odd or sequences of movemets are odd and they take a longer time to pick up...people tend to lose interest and the energy for the release goes down.  The Walk Over move {new move in the Orientation track} I cannot use so I stay with the repeater knee.   The Lunge Jump in track 6 is more like a BodyAttack move and I'm not real nuts about it either.

The music is good, I cannot say I don't like the music in this release as it has songs we don't know and haven't heard and some we do know very well.   My main issue with this release is the chore.

I'm sure it takes a lot of time, work and thought into putting each release together.   They all can't be SUPER TERRIFIC.

I loved how this release was a tribute to cancer! It was so great to recognize and celebrate our survivors!

I don't like this release though! There are several awkward moves that just don't seem to fit! The music isn't the problem for me....it's the combination of moves! I can live with the burpee...although it is not my favorite thing to do. I am not a fan of "walk the plank" or when we jump forward in track 6. I would like to see a more challenging speed step in the future. I continue to wait for another 'footloose." Maybe it's just me, but that one wears me out.  This is also one of my least favorite track 10's.

You can't please everyone, right? I understand that! I am looking forward to BS 78!

    Re: Body Step 77

My thoughts about 11a and 11b is they are not functional moves in anyway and a waste of my time to learn so I'm not going to  1: once again have the members down after doing track 10.   2: what's the purpose of this move.  3. Abs are so lame I'm not going to bore the members with this.  Great  tracks 1 - 10 (minus the burpee)  One thing I think that is being lost in this release is in any cardio class the head should NOT go below the heart and no matter how we instruct tracks 4 and 11 members have there heads down.  Where is the blood in the body at this point?  In the extermities so having your head below your heart can cause dizziness, fainting, stroke or heartattack.  Let's not forget the basics here.  I still think this is a great release.  But I'm going to relearn thiller and do 67 11a and 11b.  This is a great ab workout in that release.

I have to agree with some that track 11 seems like a filler track to get to the end.  Would rather have a cool down cardio track or some lunges instead of the quasi burpee leg tap back thing.

We started doing 77 today, and yes, I (participant) felt it was a bit "slow" and not even track 10 was that energetic. But it's probably, as you say, because we keep losing the energy in the room due to the fact that we participants don't know the release yet and have to focus more on the moves than on the workout per se.

What does "slow" mean to you guys?  BS releases are always the same speed.

Loss of momentum (when choreo is new) can feel like things are slowing down. If I miss a turn or a step I may miss a few beats of the choreo = slow down. If I miss a change I automatically make a micro pause to come into the choreo right. My body might still be moving, but I'm not using the same energy as I do when I know the track. When I'm familiar with the new track (which pretty much is after the first class) I can focus more on the energy in the workout and less on the choreo.

That said, I still think the music in this release lacks some "umpf", the bass is a bit whimpy in many of the tracks, the release has a "slow" feeling to me even though BPM may be the same as always.

However - I can always make the best of any track if I focus on my workout and not on the music. As I have said before, I think I could enjoy doing Bodystep to almost any music, since I LOVE doing Bodystep!

    Maybe not polka music, though...Ick!
