How hard would it be to do the training and taping of BodyCombat and RPM at the same time?

There is Combat and RPM training in December and I half tempted to do them both.  The plus side is the people that I recruit to tape for one class could be used in the other class and I would get myself in really good shape doing both.  The flip side is it would be a lot of work and I might regret it later.

I don't really get what your question is? Tongue Tied

Are you looking at doing your initial training for both programs at the same time?  If so, how would this work - how would you be at 2 different modules at the same time???

If you are just looking at filming for certification on the same day then I say go for it!  May as well get both your videos done all in one hit!

In December, the combat training and rpm training are a week apart.  Physically how hard would it be to do the combat training and then a week later go out and do the rpm training?  Would it be hard to learn the technique and choreography for both while preparing to film?  I might be wrong, but I'm assuming that it wouldn't be too hard to learn both at the same time.

I figure as far as the video I could film both videos on the same day.

Has anyone else tried to do 2 les mills programs at the same time?

Short answer is that it depends.....but if it was me I wouldn't be all that keen on it.

If you've done a program or two already and/or have some experience teaching group exercise then you know what you're in for but if it's the first time you've tackled a Les Mills module then there's quite a bit ahead of you (but it's all achievable which is the best thing.....).

I found having one video due nerve wracking enough but two at the same time and filming on the same day - could be a lot to try and squeeze in (I nailed my combat video first time but took three times to get a pump one I was happy with).

A very wise assessor I was lucky enough to be talking to said that you want your video to be one that reflects the best of your teaching so maybe trying to do two in one day could be just a bit much.

doing two modules a week apart is too difficult - in particulary if you are new to lm modules.... i guess maybe we are all different but when i did my first module i had enrolled in another one which was a week later after the first finnished - i postponed the 2nd after i did my first, you are so mentally and physically drained after a module that you really dont want to go throu it again for another 2 weekends... IMO

As for videos yeah if u can do 2 in one day and ur up to it why not. go for it!

Are you a new instructor? If so, I'd say definitely don't do it. There's too much to learn already, and you'll just end up half-a**ing both of 'em.

If you're a seasoned instructor with tons of programs under your belt, maybe ... but my guess is, if you were, you'd know whether you find it hard/easy to learn choreo and wouldn't even need to ask the question LOL.

There are a lot of things you need to learn and hone for your video besides just choreo. Technique, timing, etc. Even RPM may seem easy, but they will nitpick it like crazy.

I wouldn't do it, if you want to succeed at both ... best to wait (even if you have to wait a while?) but be successful.

As an instructor, I'll tell you that it's tough enough training for a new program, learning the technique choreo etc for it, and then learning new releases for programs you already teach. And that's just learning choreo - since for the programs I already teach, I'm not working on technique cos I have that down. It's a challenge. If they were both new programs .... Tongue Tied

I agree with all of the above posts. There is also yet another thing to consider. It's one thing to be in shape...it is a whole different thing to be in instructor shape; aside from the training aspects, you will have to get your 'wind' (meaning be able able to call out your pre-ques, while not sounding gassed). It always appears easier than it looks, being a group fitness instructor is very challening. You not only have to know your chorey, you have to be able to motivate individuals. Having to do two trainings at once, is way too much.

A friend of mine did Combat and Pump the same week -- she passed both modules. However, since then she had pretty much concentrated on the Combat (which she is now certified in), but has all but given up on the Pump (not yet certified). She admitts that it was not a good idea to do both together. And this is a very fit person who has no problem with multi-tasking (over-achiever is a phrase that comes to mind).

Whatever you decide to go with - have fun!

After reading all the posts here and speaking with my friends that are instructors, I will only do one of the two.  I will decide which one I will do first at a later time.  I also started to factor in career goals and other goals/projects and I realized I couldn't do a good job of both programs at the same time.
