What do you guys do when you feel you've lost motivation to train or teach?!? Could certainly do with some inspiration right now :-/

    THANK YOU :-)

hey... firstly, ensure that your body isn't trying to tell you something... coz sometimes lack of motivation can be your body's way of saying "hey listen to me, i'm not right right now" you may not have any pain or anything but even a medical examination can tell you alot...

secondly... remember this (if none of the above applies)

you are someone special, who's doing something special, think of all the lazy/fat/sedentary people out there, you've found something fun and special, and remind yourself of that when you feel unmotivated... i've just recently realized how f***ing lazy people are and i thank god every day that i'm not one of those people, and neither are you!! you're one of the elite minority who are in the know ;) also the thing i do is mix it up, do something TOTALLY different to what you're doing right now, even if it's something really slow and different (aqua aerobics or tai chi are perfect) try something new to remember the euphoria you get from exercising, if it gets stale you'll want out!!

    hope that helps!! :)

"This is my body and I can do whatever I want to it. I can push it, study it, tweak it, listen to it. Everybody wants to know what I'm on... What am I on!?! I'm on my bike, busting my ass 6 hours a day. What are you on???"

Find an instructor who motivates you and take their class (that isn't in your format). When I feel like I am in a slump, that always helps doing something else. Also, you could try to get a hold on an older release that you haven't taught yet and learn the music. Sometimes new music shakes things up a bit!

Re: Trying to stay with the fight....

    All great suggestions!

I have been teaching BodyFlow/Balance for about a year now.  Not that I am getting burned out or losing the love for instructing, but the past few months we have been down instructors and I'd been covering all the classes on my own.  I only teach part time, but it was almost taking over all my free time in my life, and something I love doing was becoming more of a chore/requirement than it should have been.

Then I went through certification for Combat a month ago, and I have to say, my first BF class a few days after certification was THE BEST feeling class I had in a long time!  It was just a reassurance of why I was here in the first place, reminded me to teach every class as if there is someone new, made me really think about what i was doing, cueing, coaching and the experience I was trying to provide.

If possible I would suggest continuing instructor education, attending quarterlies, etc- or taking a class with another instructor you dont know and see if it stirs something in you.  Also, again, coaching as if someone is experiencing your program for the first time really helps me appreciate and think about the 5 elements, and changing lives (including your own!)

     best of luck!!
