Recently, I've been asked by a few members about the distance of the RPM classes.  Is there a way to determine how many miles an RPM class is?

 

 

I always tell people to figure approx. 15-17 miles avg for a 45 min format, and 18-20 miles avg for a 60 min format, depending how hard they ride. Naturally, there are those that could travel much shorter distances if they don't push very hard/

We have a chart that allows members to track their miles for RPM.  It makes for a nice way to see progress and builds in some freindly competition amoung memebers.  We credit 12 miles per class.  In a standard 45 min class you really only ride for about 30 min; tracks 8, 9 and somewhat track 1 would not contribute much towards distance.  Actually, 12 miles is a little generous since that would be a 24 mph pace on the road which is quite difficult even for an experienced rider.

Our Keiser M3's suggest that during a class we around 18-22.  Most I had was 24 but that was really pushing the pace tracks.
