    Advise regarding co-worker

Okay, so I've debated with myself over and over what I could possibly do about this problem. I work with someone who has had her BodyCombat licence several years longer than I have. But she won't follow the layout of the program. She often switches tracks, but not switching e.g. track 2 for another track 2. She often leaves out nr 6 completely and picks some other tracknumber. Once she had three (!) Muay Thai-tracks during one class. She wants her classes to go at 100% all the time, regardless of whether the customers can keep up or even if it's good/healthy for them.

The problem for me is that she's fully aware of what she's doing is wrong! I've tried to point out that I myself follow the program because of the licence agreement and that it is put together to give a good and healthy workout, but she still doesn't care. And I don't know what to do. I feel like a squealer if I were to tell someone about it - my co-worker will know it was I who told on her and it would make it hard for us to work together.

    Any thoughts?

    ANSWER , Advise regarding co-worker

HE WATCHES, REASON WHY I UNDERSTAND SHE (I SUPPOSE I, SHE IS YOUR PARTNER) AND FELLOW WORKER? IT THIS FULFILLING THE REGULATIONS AND THAT IS NOT A VERY SERIOUS LACK, IS STILL MORE, THIS IN GAME YOUR WORK, YOU HAVE PUT ITSELF TO THINK IF TO SOME STUDENT OR STUDENT SHE PASSED SOMETHING WITHIN A CLASS AND, IF EACH ONE DOES NOT MAKE COMBINE AND SERIOUS 100% MUAY THAY, AND THAT TO HIM IS NOT THE IDEA, I I RECOMMEND THAT YOU SPEAK TO YOU WITH HER AND IF THERE IS NO ANSWER FROM HER, YOU MUST REPORT IT, SO THAT THIS IN GAME YOU I REPEAT YOUR LIFE, YOUR WORK AGAIN AND EVERYTHING, THAT IS AT LEAST WHAT TO DO ME. AND NOT TO BE ARRANGED TO BE OUTSIDE, BY THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF ANOTHER PERSON, HAS BEEN MUCH THE SACRIFICE TO LOSE IT OF A SINGLE TIME, YOU MUST BE PROFECIONAL AND TO SPEAK PROFECIONAL WITH HER.

    Hi,

This winds me up so much so iam going to rant!

You should start by telling her she signed an agreement that she would follow the program when she trained - if this is differcult then suggest that the class coordinator goes in a assesses her class, if she has such a disregard for the program then call fit pro with her name, i dout she goes to QWS and this means she her certifcation is void! they should investigate on your behalf, don't be worried if she finds out its you, you are teaching the correct format making you more professional and dedicated - she will proberly disapear soon anyway - and then you will get another class!! lol

i am so glad other people do something about this sort of thing i will always pipe up, at the end of the day they are ruining your program!!

Hands up, I used to add to my class.  I did the normal programme and in the normal order so everything was covered, but when my advanced class started getting through the class in 50 minutes I decided to add an additional conditioning track.  Unlike your colleague, I didn't realise that this was wrong.  Spoke about it on this site and got told it was a no no.

What I did: I emailed Rach and got an offical word from her and advice about other things I could do instead.

What Rach told me: the ideal is that you can walk into a club anywhere and get the same programme.  With everyone launching at different times it's not always going to be the same choreography but it will follow the same format.

Personally, I never took from the programme and would never have dreamnt of taking from the programme.  There's no need!  If you don't think a track is working for your class enough then there's plenty old ones to choose from for every track.

I think we've all had issues/concerns with other instructors at one time or another and initially I have always approached the instructor first.  (Although sometimes you feel horrible doing it.)  This one sounds like she needs a good telling but is unlikely to listen.  Give her a heads up that it's not safe and doesn't follow the aims of the programme and the whole schpeal about interval training and fighting fatigue, if she doesn't listen you've given her fair warning.  Next step is to address your concerns with the boss.  It's then their responsibility and they'll take the fall if something goes wrong in her class = they've got to do something about it.

I agree with my forespeakers... (is that word right? *g*)

What we are doing is called franchise... Same as McDonalds. You know what happens to a McDonalds restaurant where someone likes to add his own touch to let's say the Big Mac sauce? It get's shut down.... permanently!

She is changing the programme to a degree that could damage the image of Bodycombat! Give her one warning and only one. If she has too much power up her ass, then she should do her 3 muay thai tracks before her class and then stick to the programme!

Seriously: Inform the gym boss first and then report her. I'd do the same...

    Re: Advise regarding co-worker

Its great for us to read all your responses  - as it shows us your passion for the integrity of the program, cheers guys.

     My slant on things:

This instructor 'could' be  the kind of person who believe's harder is better, and only wants their class to get the best. To do that, they have discovered a 'really cool' way to do so. Add tracks, etc etc ra ra r a...

They have had a great response from their group, and found that now nothing else will do as their sole teaching focus has become giving more and more to the group. In other words, they are stuck in a 'sucessful' rut. It all seems to be going well on the surface, but underwater their legs are paddling like crazy as the current is taking them somewhere they can't stop.

Meanwhile, others are carrying on as normal, and running the standard structure and doing a great job.

Its called 'differentiation'. It is what business's do (instructors) to set themselves aside from others. to creat a reason to use their business and not others.

    Its is natural.

The ideal way to do this, is by finding 'your' essence. 'You' authentic approach to teaching.

No one else can be you, hence your class is unique because you deliver it, with your own personal touches, sayings, cues, facial expressions, humour, credible techniques.

Try and understand it this way, before you have a chat with them, so you can understand the real reason it got this way. I know its tough, as I often have to breath deeply and think before I open my mouth too.

My experiences around these matters can be passed on as nuggets of wisdom to those who are coming across these issues now.

The program itself is great and working just fine without any interuptions or additions. It keeps kicking 'advanced' butt weekly...

Speaking of, which, gotta run to take class now...cya!
