    BodyPump + BodyCombat or BodyCombat + BodyPump (Which Order is Better?)

    Hello LM Family!

    At my club, we have a class called the Ultimate Workout. It consists of a 90 minute workout that begins with 45 minutes of BodyCombat followed by 45 minutes of BodyPump. I and another instructor teach this class with great success!

    Recently, I reversed the order of the class (i.e. BodyPump followed by BodyCombat) just to add some spicey variety to the class. This was done as an experiment. However, I was quickly told to not change the order of the class again or else....

    Personally, I like doing the class with B/P followed by B/C. I also have heard from a few participants that they also would like this type of class order. However, it's very difficult to convince my leaders on why this is preferred.

    Any suggestions?

    Generally speaking it isn't wise to participate in cardio/aerobic exercise before doing BP - the reason being that having fatigued the muscles in the first session, participants are at greater risk of having poor technique in BP which means a) the exercise isn't doing as much good; and b) greater risk of injury.  So, BP first. 

    People who know more than me might have a view about using glycogen as fuel during the BP session, and having depleted that, you get to burn fat during the cardio/aerobic session; which is another reason to do BP first.

    I have taught it both ways.  For me, it is easier to do PUMP before Combat, if that helps.

    On Saturday's I do Attack followed by Pump, and I must admit it wipes me out for the rest of the day.

     I've done Pump, and then Combat before and it didn't feel as bad as the other way.
