    How to become an instructor?

So one of our instructors is not able to do a class anymore and the spot is open and there were so many people goign to step that are disappointed. I've thought about becoming an instructor since i love it so much. I'm at the gym all the time anyways and have been taking step for a few years. So even learning the materials would be more of a review. Is it very difficult to go from member to instructor. I've heard something about having your gym sponsor you? If they do, do you still have to pay for the class or do they do that? Also how long does it take to become an instructor? I'd be more nervous about talking while i was teaching but would love to possibly try it. Any advice or tips? Thanks.

This is how it works in Australia.  Download a copy of the training form from you country's local les mills website.  Get your gym to sign to say they are licensed and are sponsoring you.  Pay the money here its $390 to $490 or there abouts depending on course.  Undertake the training.  Get a pass as a trainee then you are able to go out and work with another instructor to teach.  Film a dvd of yourself taking a whole class and apply for certification.  If you get through that you are a qualified Les Mills instructor.  If you don't get a 'pass as a trainee' after the training you might get a shadow pass or a more development required. (then there's a different process for qualification) Who pays the money depends on your gym.  Usually you pay for yourself and you also have to buy the dvds each quarter.  Hope this helps.Big Smile
