    New forum members...

    Hey!

I was just wondering if there was a place for new members to introduce themselves to the community.. like some "how to be a good poster!"  info ......or do you just register and just blaze away? I'm relatively new to all this forum stuff, I love the connection but also get frustrated sometimes..... lately have noticed lots of new posts by new members, which is great, but tons of repeated posts. Then if  I go to their profile it says.. "profile not completed" ... no gidday or nothin! ....SO, what is the 'protocol' so to speak? Should one at least intro yourself on your profile before you post... a gesture of sincerity and courtesy..... or am I being weird?   I know it took me a little while before I completed a profile of sorts -  I guess I'm asking this cause there are some rather antagonistic posts out there and other threads that I look at and think.....are they for real?! and .... maybe, if this person (me) had spent 1 minute filtering some threads they would have their answers faster than you could say "Les Mills Body Training Systems"......

and then again, there are those folks that write so much they end up answering their own questions or forget what they wanted to ask in the first place.... and then there are folks just writing for the sake of it, hoping someone, somewhere out there,  another lost soul reading or willing to reply.. er hello.....hello ? and then there are the really hilarious funny quippy crack of the whip LOLers that make me want to keep coming back and then others that make you want to roundhouse your computer...(and sometimes my daughter sees me shaking my laptop widly yelling, "come off it, you've got to be joking!" (just kidding) and  then there are others posts that well, just thought it would be fun to join in on the fray off dogging another program like (tkb) a virtual stoning! (the throwing kind) and then ..... anyway.... I was just hoping to find an experienced forum member who can tell us all where to go!

    :-)

P.S. has this been covered before?!

List of things to do today. breathe in breathe out.

    Re: New forum members...

I totally agree with you on this.  I was just checking the forum this morning and was thinking, "If I see another post asking about training and what to expect, I'm gonna puke." THAT topic has been covered so many times.  But then again, it is hard to search through, but at least skim through what you can to see if it has been covered.

    Re: New forum members...

This always happens on forums such as this. Most forums are moderated and have search facilities which does help - but even then there are many people who either don't know what they are doing or are just too lazy to search for an answer so they just ask it again.

This forum needs some moderators to tidy up the repetition - and a search function so that people can search for answers.

I agree it is annoying when someone posts "What to expect on my Training" - when there is a similar thread about 6 thread down the list.

    I'm damned, I'm hot and I just can't stop

    Re: New forum members...

Just to add my 2 cents worth.  Grandnat is correct, and by extension, "no one" will read an FAQ (if there was one); "no one" would read the "stickies" (if there were any); and "no one" will use a search function (if there was one easily accessed).

There's an evolutionary aspect to fora such as these - when the forum / other posters / newbies start to annoy one, perhaps that's a signal of one's personal growth, and it's time to be here less.
