    Needs Your Input

    Hello,

I hope someone can give me some input about issues occuring at a new gym that I work at. I am a loyal fan of the Les Mills programs and believe that all instructors and employees should maintain a high level of professionalism and pride in their work. Do you think serving alcohol to your members is acceptable before and after class? I personally do not feel we are representing Les Mills to the fullest. I am also concerned that some instructors are skipping tracks in classes such as Pump to make up for time lost because of starting the class late. It has been difficult to approach this matter to the GFM and owner because they do not seem to do anything about these problems. I love teaching but I'm about ready to quit because of the lack of professionalim at this gym. Any suggestions?

    Re: Needs Your Input

I am both an instructor and a participant.  If instructors are constantly running classes late (especially it they are standing around chatting etc) I stop going to these classes.  My time is valuable to and I want to get a time efficient work out. Especially for body pump you can't just skip tracks unless you are doing the 45 or 30 min formats and they are different workouts to the 60 min format.  As to the alcohol I'm not a drinker but I do know of gyms that after bodyjam on a fri night they stay back for some drinks.  I think that's ok but certainly not before classes.  If you are uncomfortable and get no joy from your GFM you can either get a job elsewhere or work towards becoming the GFM.  Make your classes the best and most sought after.

    cheers

    Gill
