    Dizzy / faintness

I had a dizzy spell at the end of my BP class this morning, I haven't had this from a BP class before. I was on the verge of blacking out, I felt just like I sometimes do after donating blood. I wouldn't have been surprised about this if I hadn't eaten before etc but I had done. I had Saturday as a rest day and ate well, and this morning I had breakfast before teaching 45min spin class, then had a 45 min break before taking BP class. I have been working on increasing my weights, however, the only track I increased this morning was squats up to 27kg from 25kg, other tracks I did weights I had done before.

When it came to abs track I started to feel dizzy, did stretch track, but literally held the wall whilst stretching quads as I was afraid I might fall. After class finished I had to ask one of my regulars to help me put my weights away because I really thought I would faint any second. Went to the restaurant area and had a lucozade sport, but got my fiance to pick me up as I didn't want to chance driving home.

Any ideas as to how I can prevent this happening again, or why it might happen? I can rule out the following:

    1. I had eaten beforehand (but will bring a small snack or sports drink next sunday for between spin and BP)

    2. I'm not pregnant, and not TOTM

    3. Haven't overtrained this week, just done my regular classes, had to turn down cover due to having lots to do in "office" job this week.

    4. I had eaten and rested day before.

    5. My blood pressure was "normal" last time measured by doctor one month ago.

    6. I'm not underweight, in fact at top of range for my weight, and would like to drop a couple pounds.

    7. Room was airconditioned.

    Thanks for any

    advice,

    Re: Dizzy / faintness

Hi, I also felt dizzy a couple of times recently, especially when I changed positions (eg. from standing down to the abs). My doctor believes it's dehidration that lowers blood pressure and is especially strong when you changed position. He adviced me to avoid over heated in-doors, and when I told him airconditioning was on and ventilation was good, he sait "oviously not good enough". Anyway, I try to get as much drink as possible and I the dizziness is acutally less pronounced.

Anyway, I gues I am not much of a help since gyms are somehow reluctant to spend money on upgrading their services.

    Re: Dizzy / faintness

Personal note on this...do not eat right before taking a class.  I had to get the kids fed before going to the gym, so we ran to a fast food place and ate in the car it was about 30-45 minutes later that class started and I had to teach a few tracks.  Well, right before it was my turn, I felt like I could throw up.  Attribute some of this to nerves, but the dizzy/faint feeling was right there, along with sick tummy.  So check how soon you are eating prior to class. Plus the dehydration thing.  Since going to training and now team teaching, I have found that I have to have a minimum of 2.5 liters of water per day, plus all the other junk I drink.  Anything less and I am worthless, tired, lightheaded and cranky.
