    BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

    Hi all,

Came across the sizzler for 71, and thought that I might as well share it with you guys (if you haven't seen it already..), afaik it has not been published on here yet..

Flo rida and chest seems like a lethally painful combination.

BODYPUMP® 71  is all about  teaching  from  the heart, not  from  the head. The exercises are easy  to coach, giving you  the  freedom  to  focus on connecting your participants  to  the magic of  the workout and  the music.

The release  focuses on  two kinds of  training — strength work  in  tracks 3, 5, 6 and 8, and cardio dynamite  in tracks 2, 4 and 7. Warm-up  to  the captivating, warm voice of James Sampson, a singer and BODYPUMP™ instructor  living  in Denmark. Magnetized  is  his  original  song. The Squat Track  is  a  killer! Sing  along  to  the Summer  of  69  cover  but  be  prepared  for  huge  blocks  of Singles  and Bottom Halves. Most  of  the work is done  in a wide stance, which allows you  to go  lower. Oh yeah! Pace yourself  in  the Chest Track.  In Right Round, Flo Rida and Kesha will  inspire you  to go all  the way down  in  four  identical sets of work without  recovery. A  set  of Push-ups  at  the  end will  fnish  you  off. Push  yourself  in  the  hugely  energetic and  athletic Back Track! Four Clean  and Presses  in  a  row  are  followed  by Triple Rows. Eskimo  Joe will take  you  through  the  Triceps  Track  with  Black  Fingernails,  Red Wine.  Be  prepared  for  a  Bottom  Halves challenge! The Biceps Track  is straight-forward, allowing you  to  just relax and really  feel  the music. Then fnd out how low you can go in the Lunge Track, where cardio meets butt. Unleash your strength in the Shoulders Track. Go harder and heavier as we attack the shoulders from three different directions – back, side and front.

    Enjoy. :-)

Good find. I've been keeping an eye out but not seen it yet.

Sounds like a back-to-basics release. I for one will be glad if Glen has dispensed with "innovations".

The chest track sounds tough!!  Sounds like the continuous C&P is back too - I like it but I have few participants that won't be happy!!  Not happy with the music double ups again this time round in Pump and Combat - two tracks this time....grrr!  Roll on 8 August!!

For those in Asia/Oceania not on the mailing list, the Rev is usually available online here.

Unfortunately the Q3 one conspicuously lacks the page with the Quarterly timetable. Unintentional publication error or deliberate omission - make your own mind up.

    At LM Auckland?

LMAP instructors haven't even received their DVDs yet, and it'll be another couple of months before launch.

We don't get it for another ten days but my BP instructor tonight announced that "you will love it".  That's her code for 'your muscles will be begging for mercy'.  Her other usual line is "are we having fun?" during the final set of squats when doing eight bottom halves.  For some reason I adore her.

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

My club is still 2 months out from receiving 71.  I've read the chest track is challenging.  What makes it so?  Are there a lot of bottom halfs or is the track longer than normal.  What I find the most challenging is when the break comes 2/3 through rather than 4/5 as in 70 and some of the late 60's.  Today's instructor did one of the older tracks where the post break workout was 1/3 or more of the total track and fortunately I popped 6 kg from each side during the break else I'd have been dying at the end.  Some days I have it but this wouldn't have been one of them had I tried to push it.

One word: pushups. Lots of them.

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

It's FOUR rounds of slow control that gets in for me. My chest works best with three rounds, then a break, then an extended round to finish. Yes, the pushups are hard, but it's the long benchwork that blows me if I use my regular weight.

I'm not finding this release one of my favorites. My issue is the bizarre choreography. The back track is a forearm killer and it would have been better choreographed as the usual mixed combo IMO - a tad too fast for consecutive C&P. The full range bicep curls are too fast. Swinging will be a real problem, particularly with sore arms from track 4. Don't get me started on the lunge track, which I think is an accident waiting to happen, not to mention woeful song choice. The shoulder track is a mess with all the dizzy transitions. Abs on the bench? The floor's just fine, thanks.

This release has crossed the "over-innovated" line for me. Sorry to sound negative, but freedom of speech, constructive criticism and all that....

I presume there is a rationale for using the bench?

And presume the floor is optioned?

    Re: BODYPUMP 71 Sizzler

It is the four sets of chest work that makes the chest track hard - ow!!!!!  In regards to the abs I think part o fusing the bench through lunges, shoulders and abs is to stop those who start to put all their stuff away - bench lunges, push ups off the bench and then ab work.  Also using the bench is for the reverse curls - I certainly find using that hand hold very helpful and that few inches in the hover makes a BIG difference!!!  There is no option on the DVD but I always give it as an option to the class that they can do the reverse curls off the floor.  I haven't found the bicep track too fast at all - no swinging going on except for people trying to lift too much and then they have no choice.  The lunge track is certainly quick and adds an extra core component to that track.  My members are really liking this release - no complaints except that it is hard!!!!
