Adding white noise to the meditation track

Has anyone done this or thought of doing it?  At my gym the weights section is within earshot of the main studio and we are blessed with a bunch of weaklings who prefer to let gravity return the weight to the floor.  Brian Eno does not sound good with the industrial sound effects overlay of metal on metal and wood.

White noise can muffle external sounds while being filtered out by most people.  If it were slowly added during the hamstring track then it would reach maximum effectiveness by the time we hit meditation. It's still possible to hear the music and instructor but the sounds of the outside world are reduced.  It also has the benefit of reducing the annoyance of tinnitus.

Odd he mentioned this because that was what I was thinking about during meditation this morning.  No distracting bangs or crashes in the background, just the HVAC (Air conditioning).

I forget what they call them (Like What's the sound of one hand clapping?), but mine this morning to get into the meditative state was to find a pattern or rhythm in the sound of the air conditioning.  The first thing I noticed was the sound of my pulse, but then there was the slightest hint of the sound of a bearing or belt going bad in the HVAC.

Then I heard the instructor bringing us out of meditation and the class ended.

They're called Zen Koans.  Can you hear the sound of one hand clapping in the sound of the HVAC? Or right now in the sound of your computer's fan?

Excuse me... May I motivate you?
