    Race of Truth

Hey there... I had trained on RPM release 32...   In the RPM manual, the chapter "Ongoing Fitness Training" states that I can follow the Race of Truth on my Starter Kit DVD...  But really, it's not there... My colleague found it on Release 31, but I can't even purchase that release (something about purchasing music through your "Regional Distributor - a whole other issue!)... By chance, is there a way to add the Race of Truth to each or at every other release?...  Or is there a way just to purchase the Race of Truth?...  I saw in one of the forums that Les MIlls, Australia sells it (RPM 1, RPM2)...  But, would I even be able to buy music from their site?... Les Mills won't even let me purchase music from another regional web site... Your input is greatly appreciated...

    Re: Race of Truth

    Hi,

The thing with the race of truth is that it's on the DVD so unless you can get it up while you are on a bike, the release 31 DVD is limited use. I have release 31 and don't use the DVD myself.

Here's what I did and I hope it solves your problem:

Get the format from your colleague for the various time intervals.

Study it and match it to what ever music you have at your disposal. For example in the warmup phase you might use 2 warmup tracks back to back then pick songs that have the right intensity for the various sections (probably interval tracks and hill tracks and moutains, speed work tracks etc) then stick a cooldown on the end. You could even use your own music if you wanted to I suppose.

The format is actually not too hard to remember (just like learning choreo) and once you have music that is the right intensity you can always do a bit of extra work here and there to make the timing fit.

My other suggestion is perhaps one of your national training team might be able to get it to you but I have no idea whether this is kosher or not.

     Good luck.

    Re: Race of Truth

Not sure about the rest of the world, but here in the UK I don't think we do the "race of truth" any more.

When I completed the module in August, it had been replaced with leg and pace drills that can be carried out on any release.

I won't post what they were, since it's good to have some mystique in the module Wink

    Re: Race of Truth

Hi there!  Now, I heard there is a new ROT ride.  Is this so?  If so, how does it compare with the one on Release 31?  And, by chance, how can one get his or her little hot hands on it?  Wink

Gary, I sent you a response regarding getting a copy of the ROT.  Hope you got it.

    Hi Guys,

We have developed a new race of truth - which will be given to you as an education session next year.  Its great because it uses an RPM release  rather than a specific drill CD.

All I can say is that its heaps HARDER than the old one.....

Just finished initial training this weekend, and without giving anything away, the race of truth kicked my tail, it made me feel like a first time indoor cycling rider.

Aw come on.. do tell.  Just a hint?

BTW the way, I'm loving the "Spin On Cadence" series.  Thank you for the cadence training program, Glen, Sarah, the the rest of the team who contribute so much to improve the RPM program!

    Re: Race of Truth

Do you really need chorey and specific songs? To be honest I was getting a little bored with the same songs over and over, I thought I might do my own Race Of Truth now and then by putting together a 45 minute track selection, and just cranking up that resistance like hell!!

I wouldn't use an actual RPM release simply because you'd get the chorey confused, just put together 45 minutes of songs that will pump you up, mix up high resistance power climbing for 2 or 3 tracks with standing climbs for a few tracks. I think I'll give it a go, wonder if I'll push as hard without Meg looming over me hahah!!!
