I'd like to tell you about a wonderful opportunity that you have to pick a fight with cancer.

For me, it's personal. My guess is that it's personal for you as well.

Today, there are nearly 12 million people living with cancer in United States alone, and it is estimated that close to 1.4 million more will be diagnosed this year alone.

One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer during their lifetime. Almost everyone I know has either faced the challenge of having cancer, has a family member or friend who is facing the challenge--or has lost their fight.

Fighter or lover--this is one fight worth picking. "Okay" you say...but how? Take a cue from someone who has faced the challenge and now devotes massive energy, effort and yes, money to the fight.

Lance Armstrong.

About the LIVESTRONG Challenge:

I have been invited to join the LES MILLS cycling team and to participate in the LIVESTRONG challenge on October 25-26 2008 in Austin, TX.

The LIVESTRONG Challenge is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's signature fundraising event.

MY GOALS:

Simple. I want to raise $2500. More would be great--and yes, I've put my money where my mouth is. I believe in this effort.

But more important is that I want YOU to feel as if you're a part of something bigger and more important than a monetary donation.

You're putting cancer on notice--PERSONALLY--that THE FIGHT IS ON! Your donation to the LIVESTRONG Challenge will support the LAF's mission to inspire and empower people affected by cancer.

Where does the money go and how is it used?

Please check the LAF’s website (www.livestrong.org). It serves as an invaluable resource for cancer survivors, families, and caregivers

around the world, including information ranging from what your money is going to do to what a person can expect during the cancer experience to the opportunity to get one-on-one advice and support through the SurvivorCare program. The LAF also works to increase awareness of issues facing cancer survivors within our ommunities and among our representatives in Congress.

HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS FIGHT:

Visit my LIVESTRONG Challenge website where you can make a donation online:

http://austin08.livestrong.org/jamboman

If you don’t want to donate online, you can print off a donation form from my fundraising HQ

http://austin08.livestrong.org/jamboman

and mail a check. Please write my Participant ID# (228153299) on the check. All donations must have a donation form attached and should be mailed to the address on the donation form:

I am truly excited to share this journey with you. Thank you for your support and for being a part of my fight! Please forward this message on to anyone that you think wants to pick a fight with cancer.

Hey man,

Sounds like you guys had a great time in AZ - I wish I could have made it. Glad you met my buddy Mike, he's a good guy. Both my wife and I are looking forward to Austin, it should be a great ride and a good time! My wife and I decided to mix it up a bit and are doing it on a Co-Motion tandem bike. I look forward to meeting you.

LIVESTRONG,

Shawn

Hi! Nice to meet you! So I've seen you at so many of the quarterlies and I'm not sure I ever got to properly introduce myself. But funnily enough - I was looking through the pics on your profile and I'm in the background of one of them!

Congrats on participating in the TX ride that will be amazing!

Hopefully catch you and get to chat at one of the next quarterlies!

Hi Jambo!

Nice to meet you and thanks for the nice note!

I love teaching, but I've only taught courses in biology not fitness! Maybe someday :)! For now, I am just glad to be injury free and feel lucky to have such amazing instructors here! Would be hard to measure up to those guys, they are my idols :).

You are pretty inspiring yourself....That's awesome that you used to fly! You must be such an adrenaline junkie :-). I have thought about taking lessons, but only to fly small planes. I fell in love, when I went for a ride on a antique biplane a few years ago...Grad school is sort of getting in the way of that though!

Talk to you soon and take care!

Hi Jambo!

BTW, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but I was SO impressed with your profile. TOP GUN....wow! My hubby needs to have a chat with you----he's always dreamed of having that job, but his big size wouldn't let him (6'4", 220 lbs)....a little tough to fit him inside the cockpit!

Thanks for the compliment on the pics! Those are from our latest outdoor launch, which was right in our club's parking lot....huge success! We did a "sampler" class, where we taught 3-4 tracks from each of our 4 programs: PUMP, VIVE, FLOW, COMBAT. It lasted about 2 hours, and was a great way for new people to ease into each program.

So...are you planning on adding another LM cert.? They are very, very addicting. Thanks for the shout out. Kia Kaha!

Hey Jambo
loved reading your profile, truly inspirational (and ALMOST refrained from making a Maverick joke, ALMOST)
Have you launched BP 66 yet?
Our members are LOVING it
Nothing like that burn at the end of the shoulder track
I'm in MD but grew up in N Calif, family is still there, sister is in LA so you never know, I may wander into a class of yours at some point
Will you be attending the Super Q in NY next month?
I know its far, but its closer than a trip to NZ right?
