• Re: Instructors Injuries

This is a great thread subject and one that doesn't get addressed often enough in our fitpro and reps mags. I've read two comments in this that really make a difference with our common overuse instructor injuries: 1) its a job, an income; 2) how do you get the cover to get the recovery? Sometimes you just can't stop ...

  • Re: The Death of Body Jam

doodles: But I digress....What I do see in 47 is a considerate approach to being more inclusive, rather than exclusive in this dance style WORKOUT. I also teach pump - Can I do heavier weights than I show them, more complex and sometimes more fun movements than what's contained in the tracks - Heck YEAH, but so ...

  • Re: Decline in class numbers

When BJ45 came out at one of my clubs there were shock-waves. I LOVED this release and gave my all in selling it, as did other isntructors at my gym but... it was clear that something wasn't liked by the participants. Voting with their feet started happening and my class suffered badly. The feedback I got was centered ...

  • Re: Grandnat's Review of Combat 38

T8 epic - perfect description! Ok, my thoughts: UB Warm-Up - A warm-ups a warmups a warm-up. They need some really good music to be inspiring and this one doesn't get me excited for the class ahead. Saying that, the moves are really good to rep on single side for double uppers and jabs. LB Warm-Up - Love the music on this one. ...

  • Re: Participants bringing weighted gloves to class.....safety and overuse injury inquiry advice please

Oh! This is causing me a headache at the moment. I saw the article in Kia Ora from Mrs C about not wearing wrist weights under any circumstances in BodyCombat. I ask participants to remove them in my class - its a strick No No. What they do in other people's classes is none of my business but I do explain why and offer them ...

  • Re: I am almost 5 months pregnant and still teaching Combat. Any advice?

Get someone to team teach with you. Your participants deserve the visual examples of higher options BUT you mustn't compromise yours and your baby's safety. TT is also great fun and will add a new dimension to your class. If you scroll through the various combat pages there are other subjects on combat and pregnancy and ...

  • Re: soory BC38

Crikey O'Riley! I go away for a little while and you've all gone crazy. Now I know that passion is a pre-disposition to becoming a combat nutter but whoa there. Ok, attacking the Program Directors for poor tech is justified if their tech is actually all round rubbish. IMO I can't argue that their tech is generally poor, we all ...

  • Re: How important is an instructor's appearance?

krafty:... if you have two instructors who both teach at the same level, and one is fit looking and one looks overweight, dont be suprised that the fit instructor has better numbers... Not necessarily true. I am going to assume that you're talking in extremes here but add in a those grey areas and you've got the example below from one gym ...

  • Re: How important is an instructor's appearance?

I know an instructor who has a broad build and isn't the stereotypical (in my most PC language) shape for an instructor. BUT she can lift some of the heaviest weights (Pump) and get into some of the strangest shapes (Balance) while providing that awe inspiring experience. I myself am not stick thin and well toned but I have the ...

  • Re: Latin Track in 46

Back on point and I love this type of latin track. Only wish we could have a bigger block of Salsa. The 2 track block of Cha Cha in 42 was just a bit soft for me - don't get me wrong I liked it, but the cardio on 46 latin was great fun and cut of way too soon.
