• Re: keeping the beat

Bass volume helps me keep in time with the music. Knowing the song and choreo also helps. But at the end of it all, practise makes perfect.

  • Re: Music Volume & Diplomacy

As part of my intro I say: ''Please let me know how loud or soft you want the music so that I can adjust. I can't read your minds so you're going to have to tell me.'' Then I do a quick sound check at the beginning of each track. It's hit and miss. But you can't please everybody. You can only try.

  • Re: Advanced or Elite LMI?

Apparently, this is the new ''Pro-Instructor'' course for certified instructors wanting to have additional resources and skills. I think it's a 2 day course with the first day covering all programs, etc, then the final day becoming program specific. The old course was a two day course that covered all programs generically. Check ...

  • Re: Press-up (push-up) Options

Most participants don't do presses on their toes because the sets before hand have fatigued their muscles. Try a different motivation strategy. Try teaching the track differently. For example, if the push-ups at the end of the shoulder track is giving you grief, coach chest push-ups instead of military push-ups (palms at shoulder ...

  • Re: Keeping fit between classes

I've been doing around 30mins of program specific training before each class, followed by 10-15mins of stretching afterwards. Example, for BC, I do the drills from the previous education videos on boxing, muay thai, and kick boxing, etc. For BP, I spend some time on the gym floor with heavier weights and slower reps. Certainly, ...

  • Re: Will I lose weight if I did 2 hours a day of BC?

You should consider consulting a nutritionist/dietician and a personal trainer as they will provide you with the necessary information and strategies that is specific to you and your body. The general formula for weight loss is: Energy IN < Energy OUT So any given day, you should aim to burn more energy through exercise than you consume ...

  • Re: Love BC, but cannot love it more because don't have enough flexibility

There are specific stretches done leg flexibility. I suggest Googling these for info and do them at the end of every class for about 15mins. You can also watch the beginning of a martial arts class (possibly the end) as they have style specific stretches for the session. Good luck.

  • Re: Trying to stay with the fight....

aramisa: What do you guys do when you feel you've lost motivation to train or teach?!? Could certainly do with some inspiration right now :-/ THANK YOU :-) A particularly new gym member asked me for some advice about Group Fitness and weight loss. She had never been inside a gym before, let alone be a member, and has always been ...

  • Re: Les Mills Assessor

Hi Wendi, many assessors are also trainers. So you'll have to be good enough to be able to train as well as assess, and all of the other responsibilities that go with it (quarterlies, trainer workshops, investigations, etc). Check with your LM agent for the pre-requisites like years of experience, certification levels, etc. I'm ...

  • Re: Buying old releases online?

Contact LMNZ - they should have back copies of releases. However, you may require a DVD player which can open Region 4 formats.
